#LittleLoves – April 2024

Welcome to the April edition of #LittleLoves – a linky that celebrates the little glimmers in life. You are very welcome to join in and share your #LittleLoves and leave a link in the comments below.

I’ll be really honest – it doesn’t feel at all like April. Whilst we’ve seen very rare glimmers of the big yellow ball in the sky, the temperatures are still below zero some mornings. What’s happened to the British spring? We’d usually have had a heat by this point in the year yet here I am wrapped up in three layers wishing for some warmth.

Read

I’ve been doing my very best to find solace and serenity through reading this past month. I may have tried but it’s not been entirely successful, I have however made a weak attempt at starting to read Suzy K Quinn’s ‘The Greatest Love Story Ever Told’. I love how this book links back to Suzy’s beloved ‘Bad Mothers Diary’ series via the characters, I now need to spend more time reading the content rather than losing concentration.

Watched

Other than my regular Eastenders and Home & Away viewing I’ve not watched all that much this month. Paul and I keep browsing through Netflix, Disney, Prime and such but we’ve yet to find something of interest. We have however been binge-watching episode after episode of QI and whilst it’s entertaining it’s also somewhat educational and easy to watch before attempting sleep.

Heard

I haven’t sat and listened to Music much this month. My daughter, on the other hand, seems to forever have her Alexa blasting various emo-metal bands such asĀ  Evanescence, Korn, Limp Bizkit, and her beloved Imagine Dragons (who have recently released their new single in anticipation of their upcoming album) so I’m opting for peace when I get the chance.

Made

Though I haven’t spent much time crafting this month, I have done a fair amount of baking including a three-tiered cock-up of a birthday cake for my husband’s recent birthday. Whilst I set out with good intentions to create a two-tier ‘Hell Divers II‘ gaming-themed masterpiece, it finished up looking like the work of an enthusiastic toddler. Thankfully it tasted delicious but still, I wasn’t entirely impressed by my efforts this time around.

Wore

I’ve spent most of the last month living in jeans, jumpers, slippers, and casual comforts. The sunglasses have made the odd appearance but otherwise, I may as well be dressing for winter as the weather changed very little since January. I did however dust off a dress that I hadn’t worn for over three years (since my father’s funeral to be precise) as Paul and I were very kindly invited to a wedding. Though I’d planned on squeezing myself into a beautiful, brown, leaf-printed dress, with hours to go before the event I discovered I’d lost a strap and thus decided to slip on some sandals and give what was once a much-loved dress a second life…

And Lastly

April brought the half-term holidays, Easter, and Paul’s twenty-something (plus twenty-odd years) birthday. Alongside a lengthy easter-egg hunt, the children enjoyed an afternoon at the local Clip ‘n’ Climb centre where the kids and Paul became Gladiators for the afternoon as they raced up various climbing walls. We also tried indoor caving but other than J (who loved every moment), we all struggled with claustrophobia so we skipped most of the session.

It was really good to get out and to have a little fun. We really ought to get ourselves out more often, though perhaps at lower levels (as I’m not one for the dizzying heights, especially not climbing them!).
