In the corner of our garden stands a heavy plant pot, in which is this beautiful lily was planted many years ago. Each year this lily flowers, it may only be once every twelve months but it is worth the wait.

“The modest Rose puts forth a thorn, The humble sheep a threat’ning horn: While the Lily white shall in love delight, Nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright.”

As promised, here’s another ‘summer shot’ which was taken whilst we were in Hersonissos, Crete. I took this rather idyllic shot from our balcony upon the morning of our arrival. The views were certainly breathtaking, as was the climb up the hill to our hotel room especially at thirty-eight degrees celsius!

It’s not too long now before we pack up the cases and head off for another holiday – here’s hoping that the upcoming break is a whole heap better than the last!…

Despite the god-awful circumstances, which I don’t wish to share at present, we tried to make the very best of a bad situation, which with a hire car and a great deal of effort we somehow managed to pull off.…

I love having flowers around the house, they really brighten the place up by adding colour, scent, and life to a room. It’s just sad that flowers die so quickly whilst in my care, sure I add water and the plant food to a vase but give it a few days and the petals usually drop.…

My goodness me it has been hot, hot, hot this week! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining but jee-wizz there’s hot and there’s hot! Thank god it’s the holidays as I’m not sure whether I’d have coped in this kind of heat whilst at work, thankfully I could lig out with a glass of something cold on the sunlounger whilst the kids cooled down in the paddling pool.…
