Welcome to May’s edition of #LittleLoves, a blog-linky series celebrating the positive points of each month. You are very welcome to participate either by leaving comments on this post or by sharing your own #LittleLoves.
Although I had planned on writing this post earlier than now, I have unfortunately been quite poorly through the night and have spent the majority of the day resting and recovering from whatever bug it was that my husband very kindly shared around the household. Without any further ado, here are a few my #LittleLoves from the past month.
Read
Though I love my new job, working full-time with a commute means that I no longer have the same amount of time as I once did for reading as I once did. Though I’ve opted to keep my Kindle Unlimited account for the time being, I have found that I’m no longer burning through five or six books a month like I once did. Instead, I am now getting through a single book per month on average, and this month I completed ‘Wild Side’, the fourth book from Elsie Silver’s ‘Rose Hill’ series.
My husband is forever teasing me over my addiction to smutty romance books, but in my opinion, there is nothing better than switching off with an easy read and Elsie Silver sure ticks that box for me!

Watched
Being huge fans of Clarkson and of course his farm, we were thrilled to see the fourth series launch earlier this month, and thanks to the Amazon Prime split viewing dates, we’ve been unable to ‘binge-watch’ this as we would usually, so it’s lasting a little longer. Alongside this, Paul and I have just finished watching the final series of Netflix’s ‘You’. I wasn’t entirely impressed with the ending, nor with the fifth series, to be entirely honest. Still, it was worth a watch as we’d already invested a huge amount of our time watching series 1-4.
I have upped my game a little and have switched ‘soaking up the soaps from the sofa’ to walking whilst watching, as we’ve just installed a TV above our treadmill. I now watch EastEnders and Home and Away whilst working out as my part of my daily routine.

Heard
Though it’s not really my taste in music, my daughter loves to watch the Eurovision Song Contest each year. She usually spreads the event over two days of watching, and our household is then inundated with endless amounts of European teenybop via the Alexa for many weeks following. This year has been no different, and as a result, I’ve now got ‘Expresso Machiato’ on audio loop burnt into my brain.

Made
I’ve been wanting to lose weight for quite a few years now, and though I’ve had every intention of doing so, it’s not all that easy when you suffer from PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). Having stood on the weighing scales in late April whilst feeling beyond disgusted, I finally decided to take the plunge and start the weight loss journey I’ve been intending on achieving for the past ten years or more of my life. This time, however, I’ve decided to accept a little help along the way in the form of Mounjaro. As I’m well aware that Mounjaro has its limitations, as weight loss can not be achieved through medical intervention alone. I’ve therefore changed my diet entirely, I now work out for at least thirty minutes a day.
Paul and I spent some time this month putting together a home gym in our garage and decorating the area so that I can achieve my target weight and become healthier in pretty purple surroundings, whilst distracting myself with television and music as I work out. It’s been five weeks since I started my ‘weight loss journey’ and already I’m down one stone in weight. I’ve still got another two stone to go and I’m damned determined I will get there.

Wore
Having lost a few pounds and a few inches from my waistline, I decided to spoil myself with some new clothes including new tops, new bras, new underwear, new socks, new swim sets, and some new dresses including this lovely leopard print number which I wore to my son’s sixteenth birthday celebrations last week.

My Top Three Moments From The Month Gone By
- May has been the month of transformation and change; Our amazing son switched from daily lessons in secondary school to sitting his final GCSE examinations. He only has three weeks left of being at senior school and eleven more exams to sit before he’ll be off to his prom and preparing for his transition to college.
- E has continued practising and perfecting playing the flute and is now an established part of a local orchestra. She is soon to take her Grade 1 exam, and I couldn’t be prouder.
- Our bold, brash and beautiful boy turned ‘sweet sixteen’ earlier this month, where the heck has time got to? He celebrated with a well-done steak, squidgy chocolate log, and an abundance of gifts and cards. We also celebrated the following weekend by enjoying a day out bowling, playing golf, and visiting a garden centre where J collected various bits and bobs for his current ‘veggy project’.

Thanks for reading May’s #LittleLoves post. I look forward to catching up and reading through your #LittleLoves posts

Listening to audio books on the commute can keep the books up….not quite reading but still able to enjoy the ideas and story. Happy birthday – they grow up fast.
