Welcome to this month’s #LittleLoves post, a blog series celebrating the positives from throughout the month. You are very welcome to join by sharing your own posts or by commenting on this post.
Whilst I usually adore the autumn months, this year hasn’t been all that easy as we’ve had quite an emotional rollercoaster of late. Still, rather than harping on about the heartache, I’d rather look to the positive points and share a few of those from the past thirty days or so.
Read
Having splurged during Amazon’s seasonal sale, I am now the proud owner of a Kindle Colorsoft. Don’t worry, my beloved Paperwhite was very swiftly swiped from my hands by my darling daughter, who is also a bookworm just like her Mother. I’ve therefore enjoyed several books over the past few weeks, including Ana Huang’s ‘King of Envy‘, Chloe Walsh’s ‘Saving 6‘, and the sequel to this book, ‘Redeeming 6‘.

Watched
With the arrival of the darker nights, we’ve spent much more time watching television; there’s nothing quite like snuggling on the sofa whilst surrounded by spectacular spooky decor to set the scene. Whilst J and I have been watching Big Brother religiously each evening, Paul and I also got ourselves stuck into the latest series of The Celebrity Traitors on BBC1. Alongside these shows, we’ve also been enjoying our weekly episodes of The Great British Bake Off, and to celebrate Halloween, we’ve watched several spooky specials, including ‘Sleepy Hollow’, ‘Edward Scissorhands’, and ‘Hocus Pocus’.

Heard
Having bagged myself four tickets to see the legendary Tori Amos next April, we’ve been listening to a fair amount of her music of late. It’ll be E’s first time seeing Tori live, and she is especially excited, bless her!
Made
With it being Halloween, the kids have been busy carving pumpkins (which they selected and picked fresh from their Grandparents’ farm). They have also put together some pretty wicked costumes and will no doubt be daubing on the face-paints later on this evening to complete the ghoulish get-up. With our ensuite complete, Paul and I have been busy making a start on decorating our bedroom. We are yet to paint the skirts, walls, and replace the furniture, but we’ve put a new bed in place and have made a start on the feature wall, which I think looks pretty neat!

Wore
Having struggled in acute pain with my stomach once again, I was a little worried that I’d be unable to make it to family events this week. Thankfully, having dosed up on pain relief and yet more antibiotics, I was able to tag along to our family’s annual trip to Muncaster Castle, and although I felt like a doddery old woman for the majority of the day, it was great to see the kids having such fun and making such good memories.
I realised midway through the day that whilst most kids were dressed up for the occasion, my children looked the part without even trying. Sure, E had a bit of face-paint on for added effect, but otherwise their costumes were gathered from their own wardrobes! I guess that’s one benefit of having ‘kooky kids’!

My Top Three Moments From The Month Gone By
Like I said above, it’s been a bit of a heartbreaking month for us as a family. However, there have been a couple of highlights which I will hold onto, and these include:
- E returned to the orchestra for her second season playing as an ‘Inspire’. I was incredibly proud to see her picking up her flute and joining with the adults as they practised, ready for the upcoming Christmas concert.
- Mid-decorating for Halloween, Paul and I had a complete clear out of the cupboards, and we’ve now piled up a whole array of toys, games, and such-like, ready to take to charity. I love clearing clutter!
- There’s nothing quite like the comfort of your own bed, especially when said bed happens to be a brand new wooden ottoman that is super sturdy, stylish, and even better has a ton of storage! We’ve been needing to replace our previous king-size leather monstrosity for what felt like forever, so I was super pleased to put together our oak grey ottoman bed earlier this month.

Thanks for reading my #LittleLoves post. I look forward to catching up and reading through your #LittleLoves posts
