The half-term holidays have finally arrived and whilst most people I’ve spoken to seem to have made plans for their time off, we haven’t and I’m quite content with the concept of a relaxed, free and easy week ahead. I woke late this morning, which is surprising considering that sleeping on our mattress is next to impossible, as it has now worn down to the springs, each and every one of which we are able to feel grinding against our spines. I’d compare the experience to sleeping on a bag of nails but I suspect that may be more comfortable! …
Autumn
Autumn is upon us and there are just three weeks to go until Halloween arrives. Despite telling my daughter E this information, almost everyday she will ask us how much longer she must wait until we go out trick or treating. Bless her, I know she’s excited but there are only so many times you can cope with being asked the same question before your patience starts wearing thin. My kids go crazy for Halloween, it is most probably their favourite holiday/ celebration of the year. I must admit I myself quite like Halloween, it’s the one occasion I don’t …
I’ve often wondered whether I suffer from SAD (seasonal affective disorder) as once the temperature drops and the dark nights roll in, I seem to start suffering from tiredness, lethargy, and low mood. This time next year J will be heading off to senior school and come Monday, the admissions system opens and it all becomes a little bit more real… Although the early get-ups have …
It feels as if there have been endless events over the past week. What with Halloween followed closely by Bonfire Night, we’ve certainly kept the kids well entertained! We’ve enjoyed a fair few evenings out celebrating the autumn festivities, all whilst stuffing our faces with festive sweet treats. It truly is time to start the diet before Christmas comes, I feel as if I’ve gained far too much frump over the past week or two and whilst I may have enjoyed the ‘Milky Way’ diet it’s time to cut out the crud and get back to the good stuff. This …
