#LivingArrows – The Worst Witch for World Book Day & Our Paintshop Pro 10/52 (2021)

This week we celebrated World Book Day, and though the kids weren’t in school E was delighted to dress up as Mildred from ‘The Worst Witch’ and she is super excited as come this Friday she gets to dress up all over again but this time, she can wear her outfit in school.

I won’t lie, I was super nervous about dropping E off at school earlier this morning and though she was a little apprehensive, it was great to see her trotting her into the classroom surrounded by her friends. Finally, she will be able to experience a little normality, though I’m rather sad that homeschool has come to an end.

The Worst Witch

J is working from home until Friday when he too returns to school. I’m a little worried as I return to work on Wednesday and so J will be homeschooling with my Mum (and a very dodgy internet connection) for two days. I’m not entirely sure as to whether he’ll manage his work away from home but there’s very little that I can do about the situation and come next week, it’ll be back to normal in terms of the routine, or at least I’m hoping so.

This week J made use of my new Macbook as he became a ‘Paintshop Pro’ (technically he was using Affinity Photo but it’s much of the same thing only far cheaper) as he imported, edited, and exported his very own digital artwork based upon the planets. Considering that he’s never used a Mac before, I was really impressed with his skills!

Our Paintshop Pro

Both J & E have knocked my socks off as they have been amazing these past eight weeks (and throughout the past year of homeschool). Paul and I are two very lucky parents as though homeschool has been a challenge for us all at times, it has also been a great pleasure and I’m super proud of both J & E as they have shown such resilience, bravery, compassion, understanding and effort throughout the time they’ve spent at home.

I’m rather sad to see an end to homeschool as I’ve personally rather enjoyed having the kids at home. I’m still really anxious about the virus (especially as we are yet to be vaccinated) and the whole situation with the pandemic at present. However, I’m happy that the kids will be spending time with friends and will at least be able to experience a little ‘normality’ during what is an incredibly serious, scary and strange situation.

Thank you for reading and as always, I look forward to catching up with your #LivingArrows either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

What a fabulous Mildred. I love the Worst Witch, it was a favourite of both my eldest daugther, and my now teen daughter. She actually did Mildred on a school book day dress up in year 4. (seems so long ago now) My Little Man has gone back to school (primary) today and he was so excited. We are still wary but his school was excellent last time. We’ve had our first vaccination and the second doses start tomorrow. The girls go back to school (part time) on Thursday.

It’s all change ay? We too are wary but it’s nice for the kids to have some normality I guess.

Use to love the worse witch when I was a kid. I must admit we didnt do anything for WBD this year. Hope the return went well. I am also missing having them at home.
