At the end of each year, I take some time to look back at the targets that I set myself twelve months prior and to see how many of those goals I ticked off and achieved.
This year’s reflection is a little more personally prominent as not only is it the end of the year, but it is also the end of this blog… After just under ten years of posting a variety of linkies, reviews, pictures, and personal posts, it’s finally time to bring this to a close. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for reading, commenting and being part of this blog for almost a decade.
So without further ado, here’s what I did or didn’t achieve from the targets that I set for myself for 2025.
- Redecorate our bedroom in tones of silver, add a white-wash wooden floor, and furnish it with a new bed and built-in wardrobes.
- Refurbish and redecorate our ensuite
- Recarpet the stairs
- Board out, tidy, and sort the attic ‘Stacy-Style’.
- Spend some time away as a couple.
- Make plans and get out more.
- Continue self-care through journaling, reading, gaming, and taking time out.
- Lose some weight!
- Stop caring so much about what others think; it’s time to get the tattoo, wear what I fancy, and stop carrying the weight of the World on my shoulders.
- Live for the moment
I’ve got to say that from the above list, achieving eight out of ten of my goals is a pretty amazing feat for twelve months!

We started the year with a trip for ‘just the two of us’ to Amsterdam, where we celebrated twenty years together. A few months later, we booked in for what was my first tattoo and following that, I now have further ink to add to that and plans for even more tattoos in 2026. After years of wishing to lose weight, I jumped on the mounjaro bandwagon and managed to lose just under four stone. However, I was then hit with a lifelong diagnosis, which sadly puts weight loss injections as a ‘no-go’ for the future. Still, I look a little better for losing over forty pounds in weight, but on the flip-side I’m now going to have to watch almost every item of food that passes my lips as I cannot afford to put myself back in hospital.
Not only did we redecorate our bedroom, fit new wardrobes, and lay new wooden floor, but we also replaced all of our bedroom furniture. In addition to that, we ripped out our entire ensuite and started from scratch, and as a result, we now have the most stunning bedroom with an ensuite.
We’ve certainly lived for the moment, and we’ve enjoyed a variety of days out and about as a family. I’ve stopped panicking quite so much about what others think, and I’ve continued to practice self-care through journaling, gaming, and certainly reading, as according to my Kindle app, I’ve read almost fifty books this year!
Alongside my own goals, 2025 has been an amazing year for both J and E academically, as J spent a huge amount of time studying for his GCSE’s and it paid off as he received the most amazing results. J was then suited and booted to attend his end-of-school prom, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Then, after a few months of rightfully relaxing, he started sixth form college and seems to be loving it! E, meanwhile, has joined an orchestra, passed her grade one flute, and then joined a local band and seems to be coming on leaps and bounds academically, musically, and in her confidence levels. I am so so proud of the kids this year; they have well and truly blown it out of the water in terms of personal achievements for 2025. Given that they never fail to wow me, I am certain that they will continue to succeed in the future.
Speaking of the future; I’d usually set a brand new goal list for the year ahead following this post. However, as this blog is coming to a close, this is something I have chosen to do elsewhere…
On that note, I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year and to wish you all the very best for the future.
