This time last year I wrote a goals list for 2021, and as I do every year, I’m now taking a moment to look back and reflect on the goals that I set for myself in 2021 and to determine whether or not I achieved any of my aspirations. So without further ado, here goes…
1) Read more books
Oh, I really ought to have done this but I just didn’t have the time!
2) Spend more time outside in the fresh air
Thanks to having a hot tub I’ve spent most evenings enjoying the outdoors whilst gazing at the stars from the comfort of my spa.
3) Get back to yoga classes – once normality resumes
Given that we’re still in the midst of a pandemic it’s unlikely that I’ll be attending any classes or groups for the time being.
4) Order a hot tub – well why not? We only live once and life is so very short…
I cannot express how much of a joy it is to have and to use – this is probably one of the best investments we’ve ever made!
5) Get the kitchen done!
After YEARS of dreaming, hoping, and wishing for a new kitchen we finally had our dream kitchen installed earlier this year and I’m so pleased with how it’s all turned out.
6) Replace the grotty wooden windows
It was a long time coming but we’ve now replaced each and every window and door throughout our house and it’s made a massive difference both in terms of energy savings and aesthetics.
7) Redecorate/ wallpaper the chimney breast
This is the first thing on my list for 2022 , I’ve even ordered the wallpaper!
8) Spend more time practising and playing the piano
Though I haven’t sat and practised the piano myself all that much, I have however spent time teaching my little lady how to play and that I feel is far more important.
9) Lose the lockdown/ Christmas/ stress-diet weight
I need to get real – this is NEVER going to happen as I like food too much…
10) Live more for the moment rather than according to the plan.
There’s been no sticking to any plans this year or the last – we’ve had to ‘go with the flow’ and live day-to-day especially so with the ever-changing rules regarding the pandemic and all that malarkey.
Considering all that has happened over the past two years so, I’m rather proud to have ticked off at least half of the above list. Though I was hoping to have ticked every box, I ought to be realistic and accept that even just one of the above was enough for me this year.
On that note, I will take some of the above (marked in red) to add alongside my goals for 2022. Here’s to a new year, a fresh start and yet another list…
