Each year I put together a list of targets and goals for the year ahead. This time twelve months ago I wrote my ‘targets for 2023‘ and I thought I’d take a moment to reflect on that list and identify what was (or perhaps was not) achieved before I write another list for the new year ahead. So here’s what I said I’d aim to achieve in 2023 – let’s see how I/ we did…
- Repaint and re-carpet E’s room with a gold/ red Harry Potter theme
- Refurnish E’s room with IKEA Kallax-style storage (to replace her outdated pink/ white kiddy-style storage)
- Repaint and re-carpet J’s room in purple and green
- Repaint our bedroom in silver
- Recarpet the stairs
- Make use of my treadmill and lose some weight through diet and exercise
- Sort and tidy the attic (skipping all the rubbish we no longer need)
- Reboard the attic
- Add facia boards to the front of the house
- Have a fantastic family holiday in Florida
- Learn a new language (Spanish)
- Continue regular reading to relax
- Enjoy more time out as a couple
- Learn a new recipe
- Embrace being forty without fear
I guess seven out of fifteen isn’t too bad in the grand scheme of things. Considering the difficulties that we’ve faced as a family throughout the year, I think that achieving just under half of the set targets is rather impressive.
I plan to now select some of the above (marked in red) to add to my goals/targets for 2024. Here’s to a new year, a fresh start, and yet another list…
