My goodness me it has been hot, hot, hot this week! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining but jee-wizz there’s hot and there’s hot! Thank god it’s the holidays as I’m not sure whether I’d have coped in this kind of heat whilst at work, thankfully I could lig out with a glass of something cold on the sunlounger whilst the kids cooled down in the paddling pool.
Meanwhile, Paul was stuck in an office, an air-conditioned office mind you, which he continued to send me messages regarding how icy cool he felt under the fans… I would have had sympathy otherwise but no – I was happy to let him fester in his fridge-like office whilst us three gingers were lathered in factor fifty melting by the moment.
Earlier this week I invested in a new parasol, our previous parasol had seen better days – it was beginning to go rather rusty, that and it had been attacked by a seagull with the squits and no matter how hard I scrubbed, those stains simply wouldn’t shift! The new parasol came with a solid base, unlike our previous effort which would fall if at a slight breeze. Not only is it sturdy but it’s also super tall and seems to offer more coverage which being a ‘nightwalker’ (ginger, pale and extremely prone to sunburn) I am rather appreciating.
This has been my view from the sunlounger for much of the week, I would like to tell you that this is where I laid and relaxed but the reality is this is where I laid and played referee to two over-warm, feisty kids which as you can imagine isn’t entirely relaxing… I’m fairly sure the neighbours and most of the town have heard me holler at the kids this week, though social services haven’t called by yet so I’m safe for now…
I’d love to be a patient parent, especially during the holidays but switch up the thermostat and I start to struggle somewhat. There’s only so much heat I can endure before reaching boiling point, thus I’ve stocked up on the vino and there’s plenty of ice in the freezer to keep me chilled for the time being
“Then the seated woman with a parasol
May be the only one you can’t betray
If I’m the seated woman with a parasol
I will be safe in my frame”

The weather has been crazy hot. Sounds like a good plan. Love the colour x
Thanks Susan x
It looks like a very good place to do your parenting from! I used to be an impatient parent when my kids were younger, but have found I’ve got a lot more relaxed as they (and I) have got older.
I’m patient so long as I’m cool lol
I love your parasol, the colour is beautiful. I’m not a sun lover and although the warmer weather helps keep some of the pain at bay, I’ve enjoyed the heat from indoors. I’m way too patient with my kids, but they get hollered at by their Dad and grown up Sister, so I like to be the calming factor in their lives. Guess who they behave most for? Thanks for hosting x
Hehe you are welcome x
This past week has been way to hot for me. I hid inside as much as I could.
I separated my two when the heat got to them and the bickering started. hehehe I have no patience when they are being nasty to each other. x
Exactly – good plan!
Love the colour of it, hopefully it will last a few years with it having a sturdy base
I hope so – the parasol we first had we found in the shed when we moved in back in 2012 – it was probably ten years old then so it sure lasted us!
I think UN Negotiators have nothing on mums dealing with kids during the school holidays, frankly. Thanks for hosting. Hope you got some peace at some point!
