It’s Official, Our Extension Has Begun!

It’s official, our extension has begun! The builders arrived early this morning to begin prepping the utility room and the garage which isn’t quite empty yet. The scaffolders have now arrived along with their drills and rather loud radio which will of course make us the most popular neighbours in town.

I am rather excited about the whole shebackle other than having to spend the next six weeks squashed into half a kitchen with the dog and random accessories which were originally kept out of the way in the Utility room.

It is going to be chaos, it’s going to be messy and my little OCD voices will no doubt be screaming in the back of my mind through the whole build but it’ll be worth it.

I am really looking forward to being able to give the kids equally good-sized bedrooms, to finally be able to have a study and to of course have our own brand, spanking new bedroom and en suite.

I now need to find the old cups and saucers to offer the guys hot drinks and sustenance as they provide background percussion and endless dust for the next few months.

I also need to purchase a blind for the bathroom window so that I will be able to shower without an audience. I have never washed so quickly as this morning when the scaffolding was being built beneath me, slowly rising to window level as I was starkers in the shower… Nobody needs to see that, there would certainly be no wolf whistles for that sight, trust me!

How exciting. It’ll be worth the noise and dust when it’s done. Can’t wait to see pictures of your progress.
