The build is coming along really well, the lads are working their little socks off and I am really impressed with how far they have come. It won’t be long before we have a whole new bedroom with ensuite and I cannot wait to get started on decorating.
“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything” – George Bernard Shaw
With the new room will come lots of changes for us all, Firstly we will move across the corridor into a whole new room with an en suite, a total novelty for us! J will move into what was our bedroom, E will move into what was Js room which will then leave E’s old bedroom to become a study.
I have a whole heap of decorating and furniture ideas which are beginning to fall into place. Finally after weeks of searching I found the ideal high sleeper bed for J’s new room. The Thuka Trendy High Sleeper isn’t just any bed, it’s a Marks and Spencers bed… no, no I’m kidding. J’s new bed will be a high sleeper with a small toy box, a pull out futon and a desk with shelves below.
After spending weeks trawling the internet trying to find The Thuka Trendy High Sleeper Bed at a reasonable price in a local location I came across an ex-showroom Thuka Trendy in blue located just over two hours away. It is perfect and guess what? I actually won the flipping auction, I never usually win anything so for me this was quite a big thing.
Paul will be travelling down to Manchester this weekend to collect the bed which should hopefully fit into the Zafira with a little persuasion. We will then store it until we are ready to decorate J’s new room.
J’s current bed is a midsleeper with a tower, tent and tunnel and slide. This will soon become E’s new bed once I have attached the new tent, tower and tunnel which are of course in a rather girly shade of pink. She is going to love having a bigger room and of course being able to slide out of bed each morning.
I am not sure whether to sell the older tent, tunnel and tower sets which we have two of (a black and white pirate themed set and a blue spaced themed set) or whether to hold onto them for if E should ever fancy a change? I suppose I could throw the pirate set through the wash with some pink dye, transforming the white to pink creating a Pirate- Tinkerbell type bed set?
As for us, I am hoping to find some dark wood furniture and a dark leather bed to fit into our new room. I have decided to ditch the lilac (our current colour theme) and opt for shades of chocolate and gold. I think the new colour scheme will be far richer, warmer and relaxing for us weary parents.
I did suggest looking at beaded chandeliers for the lighting in our room but Paul’s face when I said it out loud suggested otherwise. I will however insist upon a chocolate coloured, fluffy bed spread to keep us snug at night. I don’t care how ‘out there’ he thinks my ideas are, I am putting my foot down on fluff!
The new study will only be a small, box sized room and so I will try to keep the colour scheme fairly pale and plain so not to make the room look too small. We live right by the beach and so I have decided to bring the outside inside in terms of colours, decor and furnishings.
I’m not sure whether to go for pale sky blues or sandy yellows, they do say that blue is cooling and yellow is warming so it’s a choice of two opposites.
Decisions, decisions! So many to make and I can’t wait to get going. In the meantime I have set up boards on Pinterest to collect and collate my ideas while I dream my themes.
Build It To The Beat!
I’m a big lover of Music, I would like to think that there are certain soundtracks for life, this build certainly seems to have had certain tracks for each week of its progress. Here is a Musical break down of each week as the extension has progressed.
Week 1
Week 2
Week 3
Week 4
Winter Is Coming
Apparently the builders are planning on ‘breaking through’ today which will be interesting, it should at least make delivering their teas, coffees and cake a little easier. I’m not so sure about the having no windows and an open door to house scenario mid autumn, I’ll be getting full use of those all the chunky knit cardigans and jumpers I’ve recently purchased I’m sure!
Looking Forward
Lets hope the lads continue at their current pace and that things are completed in time. I will continue to supply them with endless amounts of tea, coffee and sugar based snacks to keep them motivated of course. All things being well I can make a start of my many decor decisions and designs shortly!

So glad week 4 became a break through after it being impossible 🙂
Love the soundtrack to each week.
I took a walk around B&Q today and feel in love with the mustard colours x
Ooo mustards
Thanks the reason for break through is because they broke through the wall lol!
We are about to start a reno soon and I am already dreading it. All worth it in the end though – I just need to remember that. #tuesdaytreasures
Your plans sound ace, I love those beds for the children beats a normal bunk bed any day. Chocolate and Gold sound lovely for your bedroom, and a study you will be truly spoilt with your own little blogging space excited to see how it all turns out x #TuesdayTreasures
Thanks Angela , my very own blogging space that my hubby has already laid claim to lol
Some great ideas there – good luck with the project 🙂
Sounds like a juggling act to me. Hope it all works out well. Looking forward to the final photos. #TuesdayTreasures
