Welcome to July’s edition of #LittleLoves, a monthly series you are very welcome to join by leaving comments or by writing and sharing a post with the same subheadings. Without any further waffle, here are some of my #LittleLoves from the past month.
Read
It feels like ages since I last had time to read a good book! This month, I managed to get through not just one but two Elsie Silver books: ‘A Photo Finish’ and ‘Off To The Races’, both of which I’d thoroughly recommend to any avid romance readers. It was a joy to soak up some sunshine whilst absorbing myself in the world of fiction.
Watched
Whilst J and I have started watching ‘Not Going Out’, Paul and I have been enjoying the latest series of ‘First Dates‘ whilst flicking between various videos from Glastonbury 2025 and the Live Aid classic footage that is currently available to view on BBC iPlayer. We love watching live music, and I only hope we can fit in a few gigs come 2026.
Heard
Whilst browsing the internet radio options at work, I discovered ‘Hits Radio 90s’ and I must say, it’s a welcome break from the repetitiveness of Heart Radio and such-like. Nothing beats the nineties!
Made
Having spent the past month physically and emotionally attached to my Kindle Paperwhite, I found that the cover was becoming an issue. I tend to use my Kindle with a pop-socket so that it’s easy to hold whilst reading. However, the cover would continuously flip over and bang against my hand, which was ever so slightly irritating. Given that I need a cover to protect the screen, I decided that some DIY was necessary. I detached the cover and then added some magnetic tape so that I can detach and remove the cover as and when I need it, which leaves my Kindle in its plastic case with the pop socket for easy reading.
Wore
With the recent heat wave, I’ve spent the past few weeks living in summer shorts, tops, and flip-flops. With all the weight loss that I’ve been working hard to achieve, my shorts are a little too loose, so I’ve embraced the board-short look and gone all out beach babe bum.
My Top Three Moments From The Month Gone By
School’s Out For Summer
It’s been another busy month for us all as J has been busy working through his college prep work, E’s been completing year seven, and Paul and I have seemingly been working every hour that the universe sends. Thankfully, the summer holidays have finally arrived and we have plans…
Nailed It
To celebrate an amazing school report and an incredible orchestra performance on her flute, I took E to the nail salon where she had her very first acrylic nails applied. Whilst most people would opt for a simple french manicure, E decided to go all out and have black and red two-tone almond-shaped talons applied which I must say look awesome!
Tiptoeing Towards My Target
Whilst I’ve still got a long way to go in terms of my weight loss journey, this month I reached a marvellous milestone as I’ve now lost two stone! I’m back into size twelve clothing, and I’ve treated myself to a whole heap of new swimwear to wear whilst in Benidorm.
Thanks for reading my #LittleLoves post. I look forward to catching up and reading through your #LittleLoves posts

2 stone is MASSIVE! Excellent work and dedication on your part. I hope you are feeling better for it! As for the french manicure, I think only old people do that. My daughter gets the nuttiest nails I ever saw every time. They look lovely but so much decorating. And I look at what all the other people are getting done and it’s the same. I don’t even wear nail polish! Ha.
