Senor Pepper – The ‘Must Have’ Grab & Go Game

It’s come to that time of year when board games suddenly rise in popularity as families sit down around the table to enjoy some festive fun by playing their latest purchases.

We were recently sent Senor Pepper, a brand new, fast-paced family board game from University Games to rate and review.

Senor Pepper - The 'Must Have' Grab & Go Game

What’s The Aim Of The Game?

The aim of the game is to be the first player to grab hold of the correct amount and colour of peppers and it’s not easy!

Flip your card over, count the senor peppers required and get grabbing! As I said, it’s far from easy as there are a few catches: there aren’t enough peppers for every player, two colours may cancel each other out and players also need to avoid the trap to win the cactus juice as a reward!

What’s Included?

Included within the game/ box are:

  • 3 Red Chilli Peppers
  • 3 Green Chilli Peppers
  • 3 Yellow Chilli Peppers
  • 40 Playing Cards
  • 24 Cactus Tokens
  • 1 Instruction Sheet

Senor Pepper - The 'Must Have' Grab & Go Game

Let’s Play!

Having read through the instructions and set the game up to play chaos commenced… this is a seriously speedy game which certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted. Talk about ‘grab and go’ Senor Pepper provided some seriously snatchy, fast-paced fun!

Ideal for two to five players, the Senor Pepper game was originally said to be suited for players aged seven years and over. However, we played as a family of four (including a rather sassy six-year-old little lady) and despite our little lady being a little younger than the recommended playing age, we all enjoyed playing Senor Pepper. The age recommendation has however recently changed (since the new edition of this game was released) to four years and over which I think is more appropriate.

Whilst we enjoyed playing this game, I was slightly concerned by the whole snatching and grabbing aspect as it has the potential to be the beginning of an all-out war. However, with adult supervision (which is crucial for this game may I add) the kids had a real giggle grabbing for the goods.

Purchasing & Pricing Information

Retailing from around £20, Senor Pepper is available to purchase in a wide variety of high street and online shops including John Lewis and Argos, where it is currently (as of December 2019) priced at only £15!

A Game To Grab

Whilst it’s a rather punchy, pinchy and slightly aggressive game, I would certainly recommend Senor Pepper as it’s easy to understand, fast to play and lots of fun.
