Imitation and copying through role play is a valuable method of learning for your children. As our daughter E was brought up with having shopkeepers as Grandparents, it was inevitable that she’d want her very own shopping trolley, stock, shelves, and of course – a till!
Whilst E has spent years playing with a rather dated ELC till we were recently sent a rather fabulous update – the Peppa Pig Cash Register!

This fabulously funky till features all the accessories any little one requires for playing shopkeeper. Children are able to scan their items and listen for the ‘beep’, they can then calculate the cost of their shopping with the functioning calculator and pay their debt by using either ‘Peppa pounds’ or the bank card via a contactless beep function.

Super Shop Play
E was delighted with the Peppa Pig Cash Register, what better toy could she ask for than something which combines her love for both shopping and Peppa?! She has spent the past week scanning, beeping, and cashing up endless amounts of boxes and tins all whilst proudly playing ‘Shop Keeper’.
Whilst I adore the design (as does our daughter) I cannot help to wonder whether ‘Miss Rabbit’ (who famously plays the role of shopkeeper along with many, many other roles and jobs in the show) should be featured on the till somehow? Either that or Mr Fox who is yet another well-known shop owner come wheeler-dealer that could sell ice to the Eskimos.
Anyhow, that’s beside the point as our five- year old daughter E seems to adore her Peppa Pig Cash Register so obviously the design is just fine as it is! E busies herself with playing the role of both shopkeeper and customer for hours on end. Although I’m pretty sure that her ‘shop’ is overcharging, I’m happy to see that E is developing a keen eye for business from an early age.
