After what felt like a never-ending barrage of wet and windy weather, we were finally graced with a dry evening perfectly timed for this year’s Bonfire Night celebrations. As always, we threw on our coats, hats, scarves, and wellington boots and headed out to the local bonfire night gathering. Having stuffed ourselves silly with baked potatoes, cakes, and maybe a mince pie or two, we enjoyed a fabulous fireworks display.
With the fireworks now over and the remaining sparklers put to one side for the new year, I am now on the countdown to Christmas. I don’t even care if you feel it’s too early, I thrive on the twinkly lights and the comfort of the cosy at this time of year.
2026 and beyond
On that note, I have made some decisions for the new year, the biggest one being that this here blog will come to a close. The kids are that much older now, and whilst I’ve enjoyed sharing our journey as a family over the past sixteen years or so, I have chosen to step away from publishing articles based on parenting. I still plan to blog, but elsewhere and in a different format.
As of January 2026, I will be launching a brand-spanking new blog and alongside this, I will set up a sparkly new snap-sharing linky. Should you wish to participate, please drop me an email or a message, and I will let you know all the details. I’m excited by the concept of a new year and a new blog – it’ll hopefully be the fresh start that I’ve needed.

Wow! I didn’t realise you’d been blogging for as long as that! I’ve been going over 14 years and have moved from writing about kids to mainly writing about running as my kids are all adults now. But I totally understand you wanting a fresh start.
I would still like to take part in a snap sharing linky in the future, please!
