Apologies for not having written a Valentines post but quite frankly I was far too busy being spoilt rotten by my husband to have time to sit with the laptop and document the details.
I awoke to a massive bouquet of flowers, chocolates and a rather cute card. Paul and I exchanged gifts then got the kids ready for School and set about our usual daily routine.
Our Valentines Gift Exchange
I spent the morning running around the house trying to get as many chores as possible completed, jumped in the shower to freshen up then had a coffee and a catch up with a good friend before collecting E from Nursery.
E and I had an early dinner then got crafty and created some Valentines Cards of our own to give to each of the children’s Nana’s. We waited until J had finished school to sign and deliver the cards so that he too could be part of ‘cupids crafts’.
Crafting Valentines Day Cards
After making tea for the kids, my Mum arrived to babysit the children. I had already setup numerous crafts and games to keep the kids entertained before bedtime all of which were put to good use.
Paul and I went then out to our favourite pub-come-restaurant for drinks and a three-course meal. It was a lovely night, the food was great but sadly we were placed in a freezing cold room with another couple that seemed to dominate the room with their very loud, self-absorbed snobbery. I simply cannot find any which way to describe them politely, the guy was that horrendous that I began wondering how much damage a steak knife could inflict upon him …
After finishing our meal we left to go to another pub where we met with some friends for drinks. We stayed out slightly later than originally planned but it was worth it as we got to spend time together as adults without any interruptions from the kids or self absorbed snobs.
We arrived home to find both the kids were sound asleep, safely tucked up in their beds having spent the evening crafting with their Nana. We then finished the last of the chores, had a wash and collapsed on our bed uncomfortably stuffed full of food.
After straining to keep our eyes to watch half an hour or so of television we hit the sack following a fun-filled Valentines day. It’s amazing how one evening out can totally wipe out the average parent. Seriously, I have spent today with next to no energy wishing the weekend to arrive simply so that I can catch up on some much-needed sleep!
Cupids Naffed Off!
All in all, we had a fabulous Valentines Day. Cupid has however packed away his arrows and has now flown off for another year.

My husband, shows his love, for me, by being my carer, since I suffered a massive stroke ten years ago, not quite what either of us, signed up for, when we married, but he has certainly kept his in sickness and health vow, of course, he also gave me a card and flowers, for Valentine’s day!
Awww
Sounds like you had a lovely Valentine’s Day – bar the meal!
Ah it all sounds super lovely, well apart from the snobbery and the cold room! #TuesdayTreasures
Ahh…and you said blokes weren’t romantic! They can be if they try! I got a card and a pair of earrings (which I don’t really wear) and then I slaved over the cooker making us all dinner. Valentines Shmalentines! #TuesdayTreasures
We ended up having a mediocre Chinese takeaway but I was blown away by hubbies card, chocs and chamilia bead – he can be romantic sometimes! #TuesdayTreasures
What a lovely way to spend Valentine’s – even if the atmosphere at the meal wasn’t quite what you had hoped for. As you say, just some adult time together is really precious (and the gifts were lovely too!)
Oops I’m sorry I forgot to say #TuesdayTreasures
