It’s Friday once again and as always on a dark night following a busy bar shift I’m curled up all cosy and warm in the comfort of my bed ready to watch a ‘Friday night film’. I have numerous film favourites most of which tend to be within the rom-com genre as they are easy to watch, give me a giggle and lift my spirits.

Here is a list of my ‘top ten favourite films’ which I have watched countless times over the years.

Films For A Friday - My Top Ten Favourite Rom-Coms

Dirty Dancing

The all time Swayze classic, Dirty Dancing is most probably the biggest romantic box-office hit of all time featuring a soundtrack which has been used endlessly throughout weddings Worldwide.

50 First Dates

An unforgettable romantic comedy featuring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. This film also features a fantastic soundtrack which Paul and I included as part of our wedding day back in 2007.

10 Things I Hate About You

A teenage rom-com featuring a rather young and handsome Heath Ledger, this film was one of my all time favourites throughout my early twenties and still remains close to my heart to this day.

Bridget Jones Diary

What woman doesn’t relate to Bridget Jones? Whilst there are now three films within this series the first instalment is still the best and never fails to make me laugh no matter how many times I may have watched it over the years.

Pretty Woman

Whilst this film may seem a little dated, From Hollywood hooker to Beverly Hills Babe Julia Roberts plays a fantastic part alongside the smooth talking Richard Gere, whats not to love?

You’ve Got Mail

Whilst I find it difficult to separate Tom Hanks from the Disney character ‘Woody’ I still very much enjoy watching him play other roles such as his part within ‘You’ve Got Mail’. This fabulous film touches upon the idea of ‘online dating’ before dating websites or apps such as Tinder were ever launched. A classic romance featuring classic technology!

Coyote Ugly

What better than a bird boogying on a bar? Coyote Ugly tells the tale of a ‘wannabe singer song writer’ whom lacks confidence and cash. Along the route to success Violent Sanford finds friendship, love and a job which she will never forget.

Father Of The Bride

The 1991 remake of ‘Father of the Bride’ featuring Steve Martin, Diane Keaton and Kimberly Williams is a nineties comedy classic. We all know that ‘Dad’ with the short fuse and the lack of patience, I sure do and for that reason alone this film has me in stitches each and every time I watch it.

When Harry Met Sally

Yet another Meg Ryan rom-com, this film is World famous not just for its best friends to soul mates storyline but also for that ‘Meg Ryan Moment’ everybody talks about…

Four Weddings & A Funeral

Hugh Grant may be a mumbling, bumbling British cliché but his acting isn’t half bad. Four Weddings And A Funeral features everything from romance to tragedy alongside a great storyline. If you haven’t seen this film before then it’s certainly worth a watch if not for the entertainment then for the sheer ‘nineties novelty’.
