Life as a parent ain’t always plain sailing, it’s much like a rollercoaster really – there’s ups, downs, plenty of adrenalin and a whole lot of screaming but it’s thrilling, exhilarating, breath taking and one heck of an experience. Much like a rollercoaster ride, it’s a whole heap of fun but time whizzes by far too fast…
This time next week I’ll have a ten year old – it doesn’t feel as if it’s been a decade since I was waddling about the size of a small house. I can barely believe that J will be double digits, where on earth has the time gone? TEN YEARS! TEN WHOLE YEARS since that amazing little man entered our life…
I couldn’t imagine my life without J & E, I find it hard to remember a time before being a parent. What exactly did I do with my spare time back then and what the heck did I spend all my money on?! Whatever it was I have nothing to show for it.
Funnily enough, J finds it hard to recall a time before E; he has memories of his little sister as a newborn and a toddler but finds it hard to remember back to when it was just him… He was four when E came along and whilst that’s a pretty big age gap they get along like a house on fire. J and E may argue like cat and dog but they have such an incredibly strong sibling bond and they love each other fiercely.
J & E work together as a team: watching out for each other, helping each other, playing together, winding each other up, learning together, telling tales on each other and supporting each other as they grow alongside each other.
I am one incredibly lucky Mum and they are two incredibly lucky little kids. I just wish time would slow hold its horses and go steady.
