Over the weekend my husband often takes the kids and the dog out on walks, leaving me to catch up on the housework or to take five and enjoy the peace. As much as I love spending time with my family, it’s also healthy to have time out and to spend a little time in your own company now and then.
I love looking through the photos which Paul takes whilst out on his walks, the kids always wear such wide smiles, even the dog looks happier somehow!
I sometimes feel guilty for taking five, as if I should be doing something productive during that time such as cleaning or clearing around the house. I have however learnt to make the most of the time, often choosing to exchange the pots for my piano or swapping the bleach for a book.
Recreation is relaxation – I may be a parent but I am also a person… I just need to learn to lose the Mum-guilt and to find happiness in my hobbies. We all deserve a little time to ourselves now and then, it’s not long before the kids come back and the chaos continues so be sure to make the most of it while you can!
As always, thanks for reading. I look forward to catching up with your #TheOrdinaryMoments posts either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

It’s so lovely for both parents to have solo time with the kids and for both parents to have time out. It’s so nice that they have such lovely walks together x
