#TheOrdinaryMoments – Crashing Into Christmas

Although we’ve had one or two ‘child-free’ evenings over the past month or two we’ve just been too busy to take advantage of the time to ourselves. We’ve either used the time to go shopping, to sit and wrap parcels or we’ve just been too tired to do anything other than slob out on the sofa or to catch up on some much-needed sleep.

Having got through the longest term of the year, my husband and I were both exhausted but both felt that we should mark the occasion (and make the most of our child-free evening for once) by getting ourselves into our glad rags and going ‘out out’.…

#TheOrdinaryMoments – Sending Letters To Santa

It’s probably not the best time to ask the kids to write their letters and wishlists to Santa given that we’ve bought, wrapped and sorted all of the presents for Christmas this year but ’tis tradition’ and therefore that’s precisely what we did last night.

Thankfully, almost everything that both J & E wrote onto their lists is either wrapped and hidden here or with either one of their Grandparents ready for the big day, Phew!

Once written, we rolled up each of their lists and placed them into stockings for the Elf to take back to Santa (and his elves of course) at the North Pole.…

#TheOrdinaryMoments – Our Christmas Book Box

Around this time each year, I dig out the Christmas themed books ready for the kids to enjoy before bed.

Due to bedroom revamps, the kids no longer have sling/ display style bookshelves. They have cupboards filled with books but unless I either wave them in their faces or shove them directly under their noses it’s unlikely they would notice just how many books they have to choose from.

To make things a little easier, I’ve decided to create a ‘book box’ (which at present is seasonally styled) from which the kids can pick up a short story to share before they go to sleep.…

#TheOrdinaryMoments – Decorating For Christmas

It’s official – December is upon us and it’s finally time for the Christmas countdown.

The kids woke early this morning to find that Rocko (the Elf) had returned in style by wedging himself into a toilet roll and rolling from top to bottom down the stairs. He had apparently written “I’m back” along the toilet roll and attached to his hand was a letter from the North Pole and £2 from the Tooth Fairy who he’d obviously bumped into whilst on his travels…

Having finally cleared up the trail of toilet roll, the kids were eager to open their advent calendars.…

#TheOrdinaryMoments – Spinning Plates

Though I’ve tried my hardest to take things easy and to keep our calendars clear, it’s been another none-stop week filled with fairgrounds, festivals, Frozen part two and oodles of fun.

It doesn’t seem like it’s going to get any easier with the countdown to Christmas looming, there’s so much going on that I can barely keep track. It’s no wonder that the kids are exhausted, we barely get the time to sit down and rest before we are back out and about doing this, that or the other.

I myself feel as if my head is spinning, much-like the kids must have felt whilst riding the teacups the other day.…
