We’ve been meaning to take E to swimming lessons for over a year now but sadly our local pool was demolished and we were left quite literally high and dry. Whilst we regularly take both J & E swimming at the leisure centre (which is a fifty-minute drive away!) it isn’t quite the same as lessons.
Having phoned around a range of leisure centres and private pools, I found a range of slots were available for swimming lessons but none of which were at a time that we could attend. Last week however, I found that the Nuffield Health Centre offered weekend-based swimming lessons and we were ever so lucky to ‘bag-see’ the last place.
I hadn’t stepped foot in the Nuffield Health Centre until last week, I was surprised at how clean, warm and welcoming the pool appeared to be, that and I also noticed they happened to have a sauna, steam room and a jacuzzi! Whilst booking and paying for E’s lessons, I jokingly asked the receptionist whether the facilities were for public use, as I myself quite fancied hopping into the hot tub. She explained that as E’s guest I could in fact make full use of the facilities for a small fee. I didn’t need telling twice…
This morning therefore, we hopped into the car and made our way to the Nuffield Health Centre. Upon arriving both E and I got changed into our swimsuits and waited patiently for her session to start. Once E was settled with her new teacher and had got into the water, I then made myself comfortable in the jacuzzi.
Never before have swimming lessons been such a luxury! I clearly remember sitting shivering whilst watching J in a half-lit swimming pool prior to helping him change on the poolside. This time around though, I watched E’s entire lesson whilst taking a quick dip in the pool, then sitting in the sauna, lounging in the steam room and bubbling in the jacuzzi. Never before have I encountered such luxury whilst watching lessons of any sort!
Whilst I was a little apprehensive over E’s first lesson, it was obvious that she was more than happy, like a duck to water if you will. I could therefore sit back and relax for a while. As I sat soaking in the jacuzzi, the swimming assistant walked by and commented upon how confident and able E was in the water. It was so lovely to hear such wonderful things being said about our little lady, I’m pretty sure she will be swimming like a pro in no time at all..
E’s first swimming sessions turned out to be glorious girl time! Both E and I had a super swim and we cannot wait to return next week.
Thanks for reading! I look forward to catching up with your #TheOrdinaryMoments posts either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

This sounds like such a great place for swimming lessons – and definitely a luxury. It’s far from our swimming lesson experience! x
We went for her second lesson today and it was even better as I was much more relaxed. I really enjoyed the sauna today 🙂
