Around this time each year, I dig out the Christmas themed books ready for the kids to enjoy before bed.
Due to bedroom revamps, the kids no longer have sling/ display style bookshelves. They have cupboards filled with books but unless I either wave them in their faces or shove them directly under their noses it’s unlikely they would notice just how many books they have to choose from.
To make things a little easier, I’ve decided to create a ‘book box’ (which at present is seasonally styled) from which the kids can pick up a short story to share before they go to sleep.
I’ve always rotated the children’s books and will continue to do so, it’s such an effective way in which to keep them interested in reading. I especially like to select books to display which have a seasonal or subject-based theme.
So here you have it – our very own Christmas book box, from which the children can select a story and sit and have a read with Rudolf. As Rachel Anders wisely suggested “A journey of a lifetime starts with the turning of a page”
Thanks for reading. I look forward to catching up with your #TheOrdinaryMoments posts either through your own posts or comments upon this post.

I’ve seen so many people taking out Christmas books with their decorations this year and I’ve never thought to rotate books either. Ours are always out but I do think it would keep my son more occupied so I’ll start doing this #ordinarymoments
Awesome xxx
This is a lovely idea! We only really have seasonal books at Christmas but I’ve seen so many people doing books for different seasons, Valentines, Easter, Summer etc so maybe I should put a box together too x
It’s quite a nice thing to have as it’s easy to grab a story
