Every now and I take a trip to the beach, not with the kids nor the dog, just myself and my thoughts. It’s such a therapeutic place to visit, no matter what the weather or what may be on your mind, five minutes spent by the shore is soothing for the soul.
Often following a trip to town or to the shops, I’ll go back via the beach – it’s worth the extra five or ten minutes just for the views. I live in an area so rich in beauty, it’d be a waste if I didn’t take the time to appreciate my surroundings now and then.
With the ever-changing landscapes comes the ever-changing weather conditions. We live in a rather curious microclimate which the Met Office never seem to get quite right. One moment we are basking in twenty-six-degree sunshine and the next we are running from the rain, much like life the weather is constantly up and down and you never quite know what’s coming next…
I’ve always been a bit of a beach babe, over the years I’ve parked upon many coastlines just to sit for a second and to appreciate the views, the aroma of the fresh sea air and to enjoy the peace. There’s nothing quite like living on the coast, though I love the hustle and bustle of city life, I couldn’t be without a beach.
“Day after day, as my city fades
And is swallowed by his sea
She is boundless ?
Even breaking ? home the beach”
Tori Amos – Nautical Twilight
