Like most kids, J & E love to bake, cook, and to muck in around the kitchen. Back in the day when the kids were tiny, we had a kitchen helper to lift the kids to ‘counter height’, they have obviously grown since then but E is still a little short and for the past few years she’s used a chair to stand on whilst baking, cooking and so on.
However, E is a little too short for the counter but a little too tall to be stood on a chair so I recently decided to purchase a simple stepping stool. Thankfully and rather wisely, I chose against purchasing the cheaper, flimsier, plastic options and instead got this wonderful little wooden stepping stool which is so sturdy even I can (and do) use it.
It cost around £30 and boy was it worth it as E loves being able to ‘step up’ in the kitchen. She is such a helpful little lady, she’s forever assisting us in putting away the shopping, emptying the dishwasher and she particularly enjoys helping to make and to sort the packed lunches. J may be tall for eleven years old and far more than able to reach counter height, but even he has been using the step to reach for glasses, tumblers, cups and to sneak sweet treats when we’re not looking.
It’s amazing how the little things can often make the biggest difference.

This sounds so handy! What a fantastic purchase. I may have to go out and pick one up now, my children are much smaller than yours but the oldest is about E’s age and they love getting involved with cooking.
It is fab
We have a step in the kitchen and find it invaluable, so helpful when cooking with the kids! x
All of us have been using it !
That is such a great idea. I’d never have thought to get something like that x
