Designed by Rachel Rosenkoetter, The Rainbow Heart Tarot is a brand-new bright, bold, and beautifully hand-painted, 78 card, indie tarot deck recently released in August 2020.
Based in Portland, Oregan, Rachel Rosenkoetter is a visual artist she explores the concepts of mysticism and the states of being throughout her work and has received a BFA in Painting from The Missouri State University and an MRA in Visual Studies from The Pacific Northwest College of Art. Rachel is a founding member of Killjoy Collective and the creator of the Rainbow Heart Tarot.
Packaging & Presentation
The Rainbow Heart Tarot arrives in a wonderfully pretty purple, scratch-resistant, sturdy cardboard box featuring a sacred heart surrounded by images relating to each of the traditional tarot suits. Along with the deck, customers also receive a lovely little art/ business card featuring the same images.
Included, is a small, black and white, twenty-two-page guidebook featuring keywords for each of the tarot cards. Whilst the guidebook doesn’t feature any sample spreads or such-like, it an easy read with short paragraphs, highlighting keywords for each of the cards within the deck.
The Rainbow Heart Tarot
Rachel hand-painted each of the images featured within The Rainbow Heart Tarot onto water paper using a mixture of acrylic wash, ink, and poster paint to achieve a velvety-smooth, matt finish.
Printed on 350 gsm, large, mat cardstock, The Rainbow Heart Tarot is a silky, smooth tarot deck with a retro-vibrant feel. Each card features white borders incorporating titles printed in retro- style ‘cooper black’ font, a font type that Rachel, the artist of this deck, is particularly fond of.
This is an incredibly vibrant, bold, and bright tarot deck to work with, which shuffles like a dream and is super easy to read from.
The Major Arcana
The major arcana cards are numbered (with roman numerals) and titled traditionally. The meanings and messages behind each card are clear to read as the imagery is sharp and simple.
The Minor Arcana
The Rainbow Heart Tarot makes use of the traditional four suits; The Wands, The Cups, The Swords, and The Pentacles. I absolutely adore the imagery within this deck as Rachel’s artwork is so colourful, cheery, bright, and delightfully dazzling.
Here is a short video-walkthrough guide that I have put together further explaining The Rainbow Heart Tarot.
Reading With The Rainbow Heart Tarot
I have carried out numerous readings using The Rainbow Heart Tarot over the past fortnight, each one of them has been a pleasure to partake in as the cards are so clear and easy to understand.
This is such a vivid, vibrant, vivacious, and fun deck to work with, it truly is a tarot reader’s dream deck and I am grateful to Rachel for offering me the chance to review her marvellously multicoloured, radiant, rainbow-themed tarot deck.
Pricing and Purchasing
Though The Rainbow Heart Tarot is a tad pricy, retailing from £48 GBP (with an added shipping fee of £19.95) or $60 within the USA, this is a top-quality tarot deck which I personally believe is worth every penny.
The Rainbow Heart Tarot is available to purchase either from ‘Paint My World Rainbow’ – Rachel’s Etsy Shop or directly from www.rainbowhearttarot.com , where you will find both individual and wholesale prices listed.
The Rainbow Heart Tarot is a joyous, jolly, rainbow-themed tarot deck ideal for readers of all levels. After only a fortnight of working with The Rainbow Heart Tarot, this deck has become one of my top-five tarot decks of all time. I have fallen completely and utterly head over heels in love with the retro-radiant, rainbow-based imagery, I adore the sensation of shuffling this deck, I find reading so much simpler using The Rainbow Heart Tarot and as a result, tarot readings have become even more enjoyable!
