Battles At Bedtime

I’m quite a thoughtful person by nature; I often sit up till stupid o’clock thinking, wondering and generally bashing my brain with quizzical ideas, hopes for the future, masses of memories, realms of regrets and anything else that niggles itself into my noggin. As you can imagine this leaves me with very little time for sleep!

I therefore often laze till as late as I possibly can before clambering from my pit. I almost never feel fully rested and am forever tired but there’s very little I can do to ‘switch off’. My mind is a labyrinth of information, I’m never quite sure what’s around the corner and it’s not just at night-time either – I often find my thoughts wandering during the daytime too.…

#TheOrdinaryMoments – Sleep Thief

Our little lady has never been the best sleeper. As a result, my husband and I have grown accustomed to a serious lack of sleep over the past five and a half years. E wakes at almost anything, thus we are often seen creeping stealthily around the house like ninjas through the night.

J on the other hand could sleep through an earthquake, I clearly remember Paul building his bedroom furniture rather late at night and then transferring him to his new bed whilst he continued to snore. Due to the dust on the carpet following building the bed, I decided not to bother waiting till he woke, instead I vacuumed his carpet right there and then, he didn’t even flicker an eyelid!…

#LittleLoves – Easter Chicks, Rock Chicks & Sleepy Chicks

The holidays have finally arrived and Easter is almost upon us. As you can imagine it’s been a busy week and will no doubt be a busy weekend with all the egg-hunts and activities which we have planned. Before that though, I will take a moment to sit and reflect by listing a few of my #LittleLoves from the past seven days.

#LivingArrows – Blue Monday 3/52 (2018)

According to the news today just so happens to be ‘Blue Monday’ as apparently today is the most depressing day of the year. I have to say that I disagree entirely as today has pretty productive in terms of housework, that and I’ve just finished up an interview with a new supply agency so with a little luck I should be back in the classroom within the next month or two.

The kids however seem to be wired, they came home full of beans and have spent every moment since bouncing from the ceiling. I’m not sure why or how they have so much energy but I’ve spent the past few hours desperately trying to deter them from devastation as sibling rivalry was rife.…

#LivingArrows – Sunday Scooting & Sleeping Soundly 44/52 (2017)

Almost every Sunday whilst I am busy behind the bar my husband and the kids toddle off to my in-laws for Sunday dinner. Once upon a time I too used to join them for dinner but since my Sunday shifts started a couple of years ago I have been unable to do so, luckily I still get to enjoy a pub roast whilst working but I often wonder what my little ones are up to whilst I’m busy being a barmaid.

The kids love going to their Nana and Grandad’s house, they live by a farm which the kids enjoy running riot around more often than not returning home muck up to high heaven.…
