You may have read my recent post ‘A Very Barbie Birthday‘ – well since that date my little lady has done nothing BUT play with her Barbies. No longer am I worried about her ‘tech time’ being slightly more than it should be as she no longer even looks at her iPad, she’s now Barbie barmy and spends almost all day, every day dealing with her dolls and I personally think it’s pretty awesome. Imaginative role play (keep your mind clean as this is a parenting and lifestyle blog) is a fantastic tool for younger children, it helps them to …
role play
Imitation and copying through role play is a valuable method of learning for your children. As our daughter E was brought up with having shopkeepers as Grandparents, it was inevitable that she’d want her very own shopping trolley, stock, shelves, and of course – a till! Whilst E has spent years playing with a rather dated ELC till we were recently sent a rather fabulous update – the Peppa Pig Cash Register! The Peppa Pig Cash Register This fabulously funky till features all the accessories any little one requires for playing shopkeeper. Children are able to scan their items and …
Over the past term our son J has been studying Greek Mythology. To celebrate his learning, J and his class friends took part in a ‘Greek Day’, where each of the children were asked to bring along greek themed food to share with the class and dress up as either a greek god/ goddess or a greek myth. As J and I had decided that he would …

Now that our daughter E is four-years old I thought that I’d be well and truly done with the ‘baby days’. However, it seems our daughter E has become rather taken with babies of late, thankfully of the plastic variety either way our house has once again got a pram, a potty, nappies, a changing bag, bottles and all kinds of baby related paraphernalia all of which belong to E’s beloved dolls but seem to be taking up almost as much space as having a real life baby! The Baby Born Rain Fun Shower Earlier this week we were …
Magical & Realistic Role Play Rolled Into One With The Baby Born Wonderland Fairy Rider Doll
As a child I clearly remember having a number of dolls which I played with, to be honest I wasn’t that into baby style dolls as I wasn’t particularly maternal nor into babies whether they should be toys or real for that matter. E on the other hand seems to rather enjoy playing ‘Mummy’ to her dolls and as such we’ve collected a number of babies throughout the years which E will push around in prams, dress in various clothes and generally care for when she feels the urge. Last year we reviewed a rather plastic and fantastic Zapf Creation …
