After a six-week hard slog, it’s the final week of homeschool before half term finally arrives and we can all take a much-needed break from the books. Though things seem somewhat easier this week, we’ve still been busy ‘zipping and zooming’ around getting as much as we can done and dusted, whilst ensuring that the kids attend their required online meetings and complete the work which has been set. We’ve been homeschooling the kids for almost four months now and whilst that sounds like a long time, it doesn’t really feel all that long. The kids have been amazing – they completely understand the situation in which we are in and despite their feelings of frustration in regards to missing their friends and family, they have not once lost their mojo.
Half term came to a rather abrupt end as poor E has struggled and suffered from a bad bout of nosebleeds which led to us having to make a mad dash to the local (I say local – it’s actually a fifty-minute drive away) A&E department. Having being given the all-clear, E and I came home late last night and after a snack, a shower, and a story half-term was officially over.
I don’t always find it easy writing lists of the things that I have ‘liked and loved’ throughout the month, especially so during 2020. This year has brought so much sorrow and upset, it’s often difficult to dredge through the despair to find the light within the dark.
