After a splendid six week holiday, summer has come to a close, as has August. We’ve certainly had a super-busy, fun-filled month. Here are just a few of the highlights which I have #LikedandLoved during that time. Crete Although it wasn’t the holiday we’d expected, we made the best of a very bad situation and after hiring a car (and getting the heck out of the hotel) we enjoyed beach strolls, evenings out and hopping around Hersonissos. My Thirty-something Birthday I’ll be honest; I wasn’t entirely happy about turning another year older. I’m creeping far too close to forty for …

Being a parent is hugely costly and I’ve often wondered how single-parent families cope not only emotionally but also financially… Sure there are the general living costs such as gas, electricity, water, food, clothing and such like, not to mention childcare if you are a working parent, but then there’s all the other stuff; Christmas, birthdays, the toys, the entertainment, the days out, all of which on only one wage rather than two must be extremely difficult. Did you know that 25% of families within the UK are ‘single-parent families’? Nine out of ten of these are run by single …
We are currently half way through the half term holidays and already I feel a million times better for a couple of days downtime – a little bit of rest and recuperation can make such a difference! We’ve been working our way through a few jobs and such-like which have needed doing, Paul took our much-loved Mini went for a trip out yesterday to have her steering column replaced prior to the warranty expiring. Whilst the garage carries out this work, we have been given a brand new, 2019 Mini 5-door Hatch (the same as our own, only newer) to …
It’s been a none-stop till you drop kind of day, yet for once I don’t really feel all that tired. I’m sure that come tomorrow morning, when the alarm clock kicks in, I’ll wonder which planet I reside upon and wish I’d gone to bed earlier. Until then however, I feel fairly energised which I’m guessing is partly down to the lighter nights and the idea of two weeks holiday just around the corner. We have all sorts of plans for the half term; with it being Paul’s birthday and almost Easter we’re hoping to get away for a few …
To make our Saturday a little easier Paul and I chose to split our parenting duties into ‘gender duos’, I took E along to her class friends birthday party whilst Paul took J to the beach with the basset for some ‘boys time’. E has yet to make the drive into town without losing her lunch; the fifty minute drive along the windy roads is enough to send anyones stomach skew-whiff never mind having to put up with the plethora of potholes dotted here, there and everywhere along the way. Rather than stress about the inevitable sickness, we opted to …
