To say that it’s mid-August, you wouldn’t know – it’s a soggy, sullen summer as the weather is utterly miserable! All those summer vest tops and pairs of shorts that I bought in anticipation of the warmer weather are now stuffed back in the drawers, replaced by jeans, long-sleeved tops, and cardigans.
I’d hoped that the holidays would be six stress-free weeks of sunshine and smiles but that’s not quite how it’s turned out. So far we’ve had a funeral, an overpriced holiday on which a tragedy occurred at a ‘four-star hotel’ that I wouldn’t have given a single star to, the death of a very close family friend, illness, surgery, and shoddy weather.
It’s not exactly been the best start to the summer, and whilst I’m half tempted to give up trying, I’m determined to make the most of our time remaining before summer comes to a close.
Somehow or other things simply have to better, right? I’ve started small by arranging a few playdates for J and his friends, I’ve also made a booking at a local bistro for our family and friends to celebrate E’s birthday. We’re then off ‘down south’ for a few days to meet our new niece and to spend a day at Alton Towers, which I’m hoping and praying will be an enjoyable experience.
I’ve had it with the holidays being all doom and gloom and I’m done with the dull, dank, wet weather. Bring on the sunshine, bring on the Smirnoff and bring on the smiles – let’s make summer what it should be!

I do hope you enjoy the rest of your summer! It sounds like a rotten one so far. I am sure you can turn things around. We’re forecast another heatwave soon so get those vest tops and shorts back out x
Bring on the sun!!!
