We may have accidentally celebrated Pancake Day a week early in this household but that means only one thing, we can do it all over again this week!
The NumNoms #WhatsYourFlavour Campaign
Num Noms are also celebrating this Pancake Day with the release of their new wacky stackables and we were very kindly offered the chance to take part in their latest #WhatsYourFlavour campaign.
What better way to celebrate Shrove Tuesday than to get the kids into the kitchen and get a little creative with their favourite figures, foods and flavours?
What Are Num Noms?
Num Noms became hugely popular in 2016 with their collectible, food based, scented figures proving to be a big hit with children across the UK. These cute, collectable figures are suitable for children aged three-years and above.
“A cupful of cuteness and a spoonful of surprise make Num Noms. To create your own flavour fusion mix a Num and a Nom. It’s a recipe for mischief with so many wacky combos. The Num Noms are the cutest, mini dishes! And, they smell so delicious!”
Introducing Series 3 Num Noms
2017 sees the launch of the Series 3 Num Noms Lights & stackable figures which include brand new food themes and flavours such as marshmallow, donuts, fruits, vegetables, sweets and fiesta foods.
Also available within Series 3 are a range of new Mystery Pots, Starter Packs, Lunch Box Deluxe Packs and Surprises In A Jar. The lip gloss range has also been expanded with new combinations of flavours such as straw-nana, peachy pina and mintberry, it’s a flavour fest!
We were sent the latest Series 3 Lunch Box Deluxe Pack along with a Num Noms Mystery Pot as part of the #WhatsYourFlavour campaign to share this Pancake Day.
Our daughter E is a huge fan of the Num Noms toys, she was certainly rather pleased to receive another set to share and to play with by combining flavours to create recipes.
We began by opening the Series 3 Lunch Box Deluxe pack which includes:
- 10 x Scented Nums
- 1 x Mystery Num
- 2 x Scented Nom Erasers
- 1 x Stamper
- 1 x Collectors Menu
The case itself can be reused to home your children’s Num Noms collection, it also features a rather cute spoon handle for little hands to carry their collection around.
After investigating the contents of the rather cute case we opened the Mystery Num which we found to contain the following.
Being in the mood for a little mystery E decided she wanted to open the Mystery Pot also sent to us which we found contained the very same Num as we had just opened in the previous Mystery box along with a lip gloss which also doubles up as a pencil topper which E seemed rather taken with god help my makeup collection!
After identifying and organising all of the Num Noms we received, E began experimenting with the fuzzy feeling stamper Nom which she found produced a lovely yellow stamp ideal for adding to her rubber stamp collection.
Ready, Steady… Cook!
Finally after arranging and playing with her Num Nom figures E was ready to take her collection to the kitchen to get creative. Both J and E experimented with stacking random flavours to create some wacky topping and filling ideas for their Pancakes while I created a batter mix which to make said Pancakes from.
Should you be wondering how to create a simple Pancake Mix rather than having to use those horrid pre-made pancake mixes from a bag I have written a simple recipe which you can find here.
After stacking the Num Noms in countless arrangements E opted to go for a simply, savoury pancake with ‘Just Cheese’ (inspired by the Cheesy Burrito Num).
J on the other hand decided to go for a sweet pancake using strawberry ice cream sauce (inspired by the Sophia Strawberry Num).
We had great fun experimenting with ideas for flavour combinations when it came to creating toppings for our pancakes. The Num Noms stackable figures kept the children entertained whilst I dealt with the hot oil and flipping of the food, they then became a fabulous tool and source of inspiration for flavour combinations.

Our Final Thoughts
As always my daughter E was elated to experiment with some new Num Noms especially given that she was asked to make one of her favourite dishes as part of the #WhatsYourFlavour campaign.
The Num Noms are not only fantastic, sensory collectables to keep little ones entertained but they also offer an excellent source of inspiration within the kitchen helping food shy children to build confidence when trying new flavours.
