Prior to Christmas a colleague and good friend of mine recommend Staccups as a gift for my kids. At the time however, I’d already got my gifts sorted and stashed ready for the big day. I was there rather elated when were recently asked whether we’d be interested in reviewing the Staccups game.
Staccups
Staccups (designed and created by University Games) is a fast-paced, fun, family game which is a race against the clock, testing reaction times, hand-eye coordination and colour-ordering skills.
Suitable for two to four players, Staccups is recommended for players aged eight years and over. However, our little lady (who is currently only five years of age) rather enjoyed playing this game and even beat me in a few rounds.
Whats Included?
The Staccups game includes:
- 32 x Coloured Cups
- 32 x Coloured bases
- 1 x Podium
Game Play
To put it simply, if the base colour of your cup matching the top colour of the cup sat upon the podium, then you are able to stack it (and quickly!). Your opponent may well beat you to it therefore you must have your wits about you whilst playing this game.
Players are each given four stacks of four cups, only once a stack has been used may a further stack be split to create four stacks, thus opening further opportunities for a wider range of coloured cups.
Whilst it took a little time to set up the cups and to figure out gameplay, once we had established the rules and had figured out that both sides of the podium can be used by both players simultaneously, we were on a roll!
Fast Paced Fun
We have each played this game against one and other throughout the week and have equally enjoyed our time doing so. J is particularly keen on playing, as he seems to have the speed, the hand-eye coordination and the dexterity required to master this fast-paced game.
Purchasing & Pricing Information
Retailing from £9.99, Staccups is available to purchase in a wide range of high-street and online stores including Smyths Toys, The Entertainer and Amazon.
Staccups Summary
Staccups certainly gets the brain into gear, this game most certainly requires a high level of concentration, colour coordination, hand-eye coordination and speed. This game is quite literally a ‘brain race’! I would most certainly recommend Staccups, we have had great fun playing this game and I cannot wait to get it out over the weekend and to race the kids now that I’ve had further time to practice and to brush up my skills with my husband.
