With Halloween just around the corner, I’ve made a start on collecting some ghoulish goodies for the children to enjoy over the next few weeks. However, I was beaten to the punch as we were offered the chance to review the latest Zuru ‘Gross’ Smashers range, which is ideal for the season.
Our son has collected countless amounts of Smashers figures over the past few months. He was therefore over the moon when we recently received the Zuru Smashers Sludge Bus, along with a pack of eight eyeball themed Smashers (both of which are part of the series two gross collection) to rate and review on this here blog.
The Zuru Smashers Sludge Bus
The Zuru Smashers Sludge Bus is able to contain over fifty Smashers and when opened unfolds into a sludgy bathroom. The Sludge Bus features a spring-board and a toilet which children can aim and flip their Smashers from, plunging their smasher balls into the toilet bowl in an attempt to smash open their collection.
The Zuru Smashers Sludge Bus includes:
- 1 x Sludge Bus
- 2 x Exclusive Smasher Characters/ Figures
- 1 x Collectors Guide
Having a Smashing Time
Our son J could barely contain himself and ripped open the packaging in next to no time. He was rather impressed by the bus and it’s contents. However, being the optimist, J had assumed it would be easy to break open his Smashers using the springboard and toilet bowl. This was far from the truth and after spending what felt like forever trying his hardest to aim and to break his Smashers using the Sludge Bus , eventually (and through pure luck) managed to smash only one of the Smasher balls as intended. However, by this time his patience had worn thin, he therefore chose to smash the remaining Smashers against the floor for a quicker and more effective result.
J spent a fair few hours playing with his new Sludge Bus and he has already begun to fill his bus with his ever-growing collection of Smashers figures. I will be sure to add to these as part of his stocking fillers come this Christmas.
Series 2 Gross Zuru Smashers
Suitable for children aged three years and over, the latest series of Smashers feature eeery eyeballs which smash open revealing a range of characters. With over one hundred different figures to collect and to trade, including exclusive slime surprises and glowing Smashers, these figures are the ideal treat for Halloween.
Included within the Zuru Smashers Series 2 Gross 8 Pack are:
- 8 x Smashers
- 1 x Collectors Sheet
Smash Open The Eyeball!
Our son J took great pleasure in smashing open these eight figures (using both the Sludge Bus and the kitchen floor). He really enjoys playing with and collecting these toys, they certainly keep J and his sister entertained!
Reusing & Recycling Smashers
Whilst the packaging states that these figures are reusable and recyclable, I have struggled somewhat. J has asked for us to put his Smashers (which he has just thrown onto the floor to break open) back together numerous times. I will tell you now (should have avoided the pleasure of attempting such a challenge) that putting a Smasher ball back together is near impossible!
The Smashers App
For children with tablets, there is a Smashers app which can be downloaded to keep track of their collection. The Smashers app allows children to interact with their collection and to earn Smash points to become ‘the ultimate Smashers champion’.
Pricing & Purchasing Information
The Zuru Smashers Sludge Bus and Zuru Smashers Series 2 Gross ‘Smash Open The Eyeball’ Collection are available to purchase from a wide range of high-street and online stores including Argos, Smyths, The Entertainer and Tesco. The Zuru Smashers Sludge Bus retails from £20 upwards, whereas the packs of collectible Smashers price varies according to the amount and the retailer.
Smashers are ‘all the rage’ with the kids these days and our little ones are no exception. Both J & E have had great fun playing with the latest range of Smashers and the Smashers Sludge Bus (which doubles as a Smashers figure carry case). I would certainly recommend these toys although would advise a stiff drink may be required should you wish to piece these playthings back together.
