If they had the chance, our kids would live on yogurt. They eat at least two yogurts a day, which is fantastic in terms of calcium intake, but not so great when it comes to the amount of sugar they consume.
Unlike the kids who favour strawberry and raspberry flavored Petit Filous yogurts, I much prefer greek style, plain yogurt, especially mixed with a digestive biscuit or two, which isn’t entirely healthy but is utterly delicious should you fancy giving it a try.
EasiYo
We were recently contacted by EasiYo, the creators of the world-famous yogurt making system, enquiring as to whether we’d be interested in giving their product a try. I was more than willing to give making our own yogurt a go, anything to reduce the amount which we currently spend on yogurt!
EasiYo first came about in New Zealand’s South Island almost one hundred and fifty years ago. EasiYo’s parent company ‘Westland Milk Products’ has since created a wide range of high-quality, dairy-based products that are now sold worldwide.
The EasiYo Yogurt Maker
EasiYo yogurt making systems are available in a range of sizes and colours. To suit our daughter’s passion for all things pink, we opted for the larger 1kg, pink yogurt making system.
Included with the EasiYo 1kg Yogurt Making System is:
- 1 x Pink Yogurt Maker
- 1 x Yogurt Jar
- 1 x Information Leaflet
We were also sent two sachets of the strawberry flavoured greek-style yogurt to create, taste and try. Made with no artificial ingredients or stabilisers, EasiYo yogurt contains no live cultures and once made produces a delicious, thick, creamy, gluten-free, yogurt which is suitable for vegetarians.
Yogurt Made Super Simple, Quick & Easy
Who knew it could be so simply to make your own yogurt? EasiYo Yogurt takes only minutes to make with a simple, quick, three-step process.
Step 1:
- Half fill the yogurt jar with tepid warm water.
- Add the contents of the sachet to this and shake well
- Add further water until the container is filled to the top line.
Step 2:
- Push the red spacer into the EasiYo Yogurt Maker
- Pour boiling water to the top of the spacer
- Twist the lid onto the yogurt jar tightly
Step 3:
- Place the jar inside the Yogurt Maker and screw the top firmly on.
- Leave the yogurt to set for 8-12 hours.
- Once made remove the jar from the maker and put it in the fridge.
Having followed the above instructions, I then left the yogurt to set before removing the yogurt jar from the maker and placing it into our fridge to cool.
Keeping Clean Hygienically & Environmentally
The EasiYo Yogurt Maker features no moving parts of electronics, thus is super safe and easy to use and to clean. It is advised that you clean your yogurt maker by wiping it with a damp cloth, do not immerse it into water.
The EasiYo Yogurt Maker (and yogurt jars) are manufactured from US and UK FDA approved polypropylene grade PP130RE1. All parts are completely free from polycarbonate, BPA or any form of anti-environmental hormones.
The Taste Test
This afternoon I was yogurt ready and desperate to try the EasiYo Strawberry Greek-Style Yogurt, which whilst a little runny, tasted almost identical to Petit Filous!
My son is a super, fussy easter and despite being a little unsure at first, he eventually came around to the idea of trying something new and even he approved!
Once the yogurt has been opened it should ideally be eaten within a week but according to guidelines can last up to two weeks in the fridge. However, I highly doubt that it’ll last any longer than a day or two in this household!
EasiYo Yogurt
EasiYo has created and produces a wide range of different yogurts which can be made using the EasiYo Yogurt Maker, each available in either smaller or larger packs which make either 500g or 1kg.
There is a feast of flavours to try including the likes of greek style raspberry and lemon, greek style rhubarb, greek style with honey, greek style strawberry, natural greek yogurt, Creme brûlée and many, many more.
Pricing & Purchasing Information
Should you fancy getting your own ‘EasiYo Yogurt Making System’, there are two sizes to choose from (either 500g or 1kg yogurt makers) ranging from prices of £14.50 to £16.75. At present (September 2019) the 1kg pink yogurt making system is currently on offer for only £12.95!
EasiYo Yogurt Making Systems come in a range of colours and sizes and are available to purchase directly via the EasiYo website. Yogurt pots and containers are also for sale should you wish to carry your EasiYo yogurt in a lunch-box style fashion.
EasiYo yogurt mixes are available to purchase either in single sachets or in bulk packs via the EasiYo website ranging in price from £2.60 upwards. However, I have also found that EasiYo yogurts can be purchased at a range of high-street and online stores including Amazon.
It is a bit of a shame that Asda nor Tesco currently stock EasiYo as I would be sure to top up our sachets whilst going about our weekly grocery shop.
Yay For Yogurt
I was really impressed by how quickly and easily I was able to make yogurt in bulk with the EasiYo yogurt maker and yogurt sachets. My husband and I have really enjoyed eating EasiYo yogurt and even the kids gave their approval which was surprising, to say the least.
EasiYo Yogurt is super tasty and far healthier in comparison to the likes of Petit Filous. I would therefore highly recommend this product and will certainly be using EasiYo Yogurt for the foreseeable.
