Did you know that today just so happens to be National Chocolate Cake Day? What better excuse to chow down on the sweet stuff than to dedicate a whole day to chocolate cake?
National Chocolate Cake Day
To celebrate National Chocolate Cake Day we were sent a rather wonderful selection of goodies from Num Noms. Included within this package was a selection of sweeties from which to create some rather fabulous chocolate cakes.
As you may have read in posts published earlier this week our little lady hasn’t been feeling herself and as a result has had a few days away from school to recuperate. Once E was over the worst we beat the boredom by baking and of course playing with her favourite figures ‘Num Noms‘.
Num Noms
Num Noms became rather popular back in 2016 when their collectible, food based, scented figures were first released within the UK. These fabulous figures and collectibles are suitable for children aged three years and over, these cute, collectible, sensory figures can be stacked, stuffed and played with forever more. Our daughter E adores her Num Noms and has built a rather extensive collection over the past few years all of which have kept her entertained for hours on end.
“A cupful of cuteness and a spoonful of surprise make Num Noms. To create your own flavour fusion mix a Num and a Nom. It’s a recipe for mischief with so many wacky combos. The Num Noms are the cutest, mini dishes! And, they smell so delicious!”
Baking In A Box
To keep things super simple we were sent some ‘bake in the box’ chocolate cakes to put together. E and I carefully removed the lids from the boxes, emptied the contents of the sachets into the boxes and added milk before mixing the cake together ready for baking.
I must admit that I was rather nervous about putting a box into my oven, I half expected for it to melt or burn neither of which happened. After almost forty minutes of baking in the oven both cakes came out in perfect condition and after cooling were ready to chop into shape and decorate.
Along with the cake mix we were also sent a range of icing, sprinkles and goodies to decorate said cakes with, these were a hit with our little lady. After smothering the finished cakes with Betty Crockers Chocolate Fudge Icing we set about creating two cakes one of which was intended to appear as a Num Nom and the other was randomly sprinkled with stars.
Despite using ‘simple bake solutions’ the finished products looked and tasted fantastic, the kids certainly enjoyed the icing (as always) and us adults enjoyed our chocolate fix.
The Num Noms Dessert Tray Lunch Box Set
Along with the baking goodies we were also sent the Num Noms Dessert Tray Lunch Box featuring a range of mix and match Nums & Nums to create delicious flavour and scented combos from.
Included within this box is:
- 1 x Mystery Num (hidden behind the question mark)
- 10 x Scented Nums
- 2 x Flavoured Lip Gloss Noms
- 1 x Collectors Menu
Unfortunately we have been sent this box beforehand as part of a review. As we were already in possession of the above E very kindly opted to send her duplicate Num Noms over to her cousin who I’m sure will equally enjoy playing with these cute little figures.
Num Noms Lip Gloss/ Nail Polish Blind Packs
Along with the Lunch Box Set we were also sent two series 4.1 Num Noms Lip Gloss/ Nail Polish Mystery Blind Packs neither of which E has had previously.
Like most children our kids love opening surprises and E was delighted to open and to explore her new Num Noms which happened to contain a lipgloss and a nail varnish both of which she has since worn.
You can watch an ‘Unboxing video’ which we took during unwrapping and unboxing our Num Noms below.
