I like a challenge, especially when it involves getting creative in the kitchen. To celebrate Easter, Num Noms recently sent us a rather egg-citing package. Said package was filled to the brim with the latest Num Noms, a chefs hat, an apron and their latest challenge – to bake Easter bark.
How To Bake & To Make Easter Bark…
I have photographed and included the recipe should you fancy giving ‘Easter Bark’ a go for yourself (see below):
Handing Over The Baking Baton
As my weekend had been somewhat busy, I decided to hand the baking baton over to my husband who took charge with gusto. Our daughter E donned her apron and obligatory chefs hat, she then stood on a chair at counter height to help break up bars of chocolate to create her very own Easter bark.
Bending The Bark (Or should I say rules?)
Whilst the instructions clearly stated that the chocolate should be swirled together to create a marble effect, E wasn’t too keen on the idea of mixing the different chocolate, thus my husband came to a compromise by creating three different chocolate effects (one of which followed the suggested design). E wasn’t too keen on crunching or smashing the mini eggs either, thus the finished product is a mismatch of Easter Egg bark and Es very own chocolate crunch.
Taste Testing
Having refrigerated and cooled the mixture to a solid slab, I then returned just in time to taste the goods and by gosh was it good! Both J and E couldn’t get enough of the Easter Bark, it’s certainly a recipe I’ll be trying again!
Having Tasted The Goods We Then Reviewed The Goodies
As I mentioned above, Num Noms very kindly sent us a range of their recently launched toys for E to open and to review. E was egg-static (get it?) to unwrap and to open each of the new ‘Num Noms’ products.
We were very kindly sent:
- 2 x Num Noms Mystery Makeup Packs
- 2 x Num Noms Sparkle Smoothies Packs
- 2 x Party Hair Num Noms Packs
What Are Num Noms?
Num Noms are a popular range of cute, colourful, food-based figures – some of which are scented, some of which contain lip-glosses, nail varnishes, glitter powders and all sorts of tricks and treats for little ones to play and to experiment with.
Num Noms Mystery Makeup Packs
E wasted no time at all in opening her Num Noms and once she had unwrapped the many, many layers of packaging she found that within the two milk bottle-shaped ‘mystery makeup packs’ she had collected ‘Yummy Buttermilk & Meowberry’ (a nail varnish and lip gloss set)and ‘Yummy PB & Grizzly Grape’ (a glitter powder and lip gloss set).
Included within each Num Noms Mystery Makeup Packs are:
- 1 x Character (this may be nail varnish or glitter)
- 1 x Stand
- 1 x Lip Gloss
- 1 x Milk Bottle Container
- 1 x Collectors Sheet
I rather like the milk bottle containers which the Num Noms came inside, they are super sturdy and can be easily put back together and reused over time – my perfect plastic solution (as I hate waste!).
E adores these mini makeup packs, although I’ve had to insist that she keeps these toys downstairs as quite frankly I don’t fancy cleaning nail varnish nor glitter powder from her beautiful bedroom carpet. E has enjoyed having her face ‘glittered’ and her nails painted several times this week already, E may be only five-years of age but I can see that just like her Mum, she’s going to be a cosmetics queen one day!
Num Noms Sparkle Smoothies
Num Noms Sparkle Smoothies are small but sweet, each tub includes:
- 1 x Character Topper
- 1 x Sparkle Smoothies Lip Gloss Tub
- 1 x Collectors Sheet
We were very kindly sent ‘Blizzard Berry’ and ‘Faith Frosting’ both of which feel great to wear and taste almost as sweet as they look.
Num Noms Party Hair
Our daughter E loves anything glittery, fluffy, pink or cute in any way; so combining her favourite figures (Num Noms) with fluffy, furry hair was simply spectacular (according to E).
Included within each Num Noms Party Hair Pack is:
- 1 x Character figure
- 1 x Hair Piece/ Attachment
- 1 x Collectors Sheet
Much to my daughters delight, she opened and unwrapped ‘Frosty Unicorn’ and ‘Blueberry Freeze’ Party Hair Num Noms.
Purchasing and Pricing Information.
Num Noms characters and figures are available to purchase from a wide range of high-street and online stores including Smyths Toys where the Num Noms Mystery Makeup Packs retail from £9.99, the Num Noms Sparkle Smoothies retail from £4.99 per pack and the Num Noms Party Hair packs are currently priced at £3.99 each.
To Summarise
My daughter E was elated with her numerous Num Noms characters and of course the baking challenge which we were sent and set. Both E (and her big brother J) polished off the Easter Bark in no time, we will be sure to make this heavenly recipe again.
Following unwrapping and opening the goodies which E was set, she has continued to play with her Num Noms each day since. To say that ‘Num Noms’ are a hit would be an understatement, my daughter adores her collectible, cute, scented, food-based figures and I would very much recommend these fabulous little figures to family, friends and readers.
