As the title suggests, the past twenty-four hours have literally been filled with ‘design time’. I decided to get all creative and try to make my own blog logo. Do you like it? Drop me a comment at the bottom of this post and let me know. I wish I wasn’t so blinking particular, otherwise I might have spent less time with my head stuck in my Macbook fiddling with Photoshop. Oh the joys of being an arty geek and suffering with perfectionist OCD issues…
Anyhow, less of the technical twaddle and back to the basics, that being the usual hum-drum of my day-to-day existence. Don’t get me wrong, I love my life but it seems to be a bit like Groundhog day recently, I need to get out more and now that the weather seems to be making a u-turn I might just be able to do just that. We at least managed to get to the park today, the sun had its hat on and the kids needed to run off some energy which they did with gusto. It seems like each and every day E is busting yet another milestone, today’s being conquering the mini climbing wall at the local park. Even more mini heart attacks for me to suffer as I watch her climb, arms out at the ready for should she fall.
There is however one milestone that we are yet to tick off the list and that is the dreaded ‘potty training’. We have a potty, we have knickers and hopefully over the next week we will have the time to concentrate on ‘ditching the diapers’ (yeh, yeh I know they are called nappies over here in the good old UK but it sounded better so ner!). I think that E is ready to participate in the potty training palava and so as I’m very aware that time is ticking in terms of the countdown to pre-school, we’d best get it cracked eh?
Speaking of countdowns, this time next year I will be in the know as to whether E will be allocated her specific choice of primary school. It should be fairly plain sailing considering that her brother already attends the primary school we are hoping for. However, you can never be too sure! Primary school applications and places seem to be the current talk of the town (and the internet too for that matter) every time i see or hear anything related to the matter I want to cover my eyes and ears. It just doesn’t seem right that come next September my little girl will be donning a uniform and following her big brother to school each morning, my heart aches and I feel like I am about to cry even thinking about it.
God help me when the time comes, I will miss my days making play dough, helping do jigsaw puzzles, playing shop, cuddling on the sofa watching telly and going out to random parks and play-groups together. I will be redundant for the majority of the day, hopefully by then I’ll have a career plan and something to do with the time other than housework and counting the hours till I can pick the kids up.
I am going to name tomorrow ‘Widdle Wednesday’ as I can see it being precisely that, a day spent catching widdle from my little potty training princess. I best get the stickers and the chocolates out, I don’t know about E, but I certainly will need a reward for each time we have success rather than mess.
Right I had better get myself off to bed and catch up on some much-needed sleep. Heres hoping tomorrow is a ‘dry day’ and I ain’t referring to the weather!
