Staying in your newborn bubble of happiness can feel safe and secure, but it is very important to find the confidence to get out and about with your new baby. You may feel relaxed in the comfort of your own home, but as long as you’re physically ready you should be getting some fresh air and social interaction as often as you can. You took so many preparations whilst you were waiting for the baby to arrive, from child-proofing every room to investing in the best possible nursery furniture. You didn’t really consider what it would be like to get out and about with a newborn baby. Luckily, many parents have done it over the years and you can too. As long as you are prepared with some of the following things.
Consider Your Travel Options
Whether you’re going on a road trip, a train journey or taking a walk, you need to consider how you’re going to get from A to B with your little one. Choosing a car seat and the best pram for you might just be the hardest choice you make, which is why you may want to look into the following travel system for your baby or toddler. Having a travel system that works together seamlessly will make any trip feel stress-free from start to finish.
Pack the Night Before
If you’re planning to take your baby for a drive, go for a long walk or visit a friend for a coffee, you need to take as much stress away as possible by packing the night before. Filling your baby bag with bottles, formula, burp cloths, spare clothes and diapers will help you feel prepared. This means that you’re less likely to cancel at the last minute because you don’t feel ready to venture out. Every new parent feels daunted at the prospect of going out alone with their baby, so this will help you feel ready to conquer the day ahead.
Ask for Help from a Friend
Asking for help when you’ve just had a baby can feel overwhelming, but you should always put yourself first and accept help when it’s offered to you. If your parents, friends or siblings offer to come out with you for the day then make sure you take them up on their offer!
Don’t Put To Much Pressure on Yourself
Getting out and about can seem tiring and overwhelming, but once you get used to it you’ll love the entire process. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself to do anything too quickly. Ease your way into any activity and learn to be kind to yourself.
With all of these tips and tricks at your fingertips, getting out and about with your baby will feel like a breeze. You may feel slightly stressed at the beginning, but as soon as you take the leap you will feel a sense of freedom again outside the safety of your newborn bubble at home.
