As of today we finally got back into some kind of routine. J started back at school yesterday but as it was E’s day off from nursery we went to the local Tots group, had a brew and caught up with some friends. I managed to get a few things done but it wasn’t ‘normal routine’ as such.
It was only this morning when E returned to Nursery that I finally got back into a routine of having some time alone. It was great to catch up on the chores and to take stock following the Christmas break.
I got the children ready for school/ nursery then pottered about cleaning up and tidying away. I then decided to head back to bed for an hours kip without any interruption. It was bliss!
I woke feeling refreshed, jumped in the shower and then set about getting ready in a leisurely manner. I usually throw my makeup on slap dash, grab some random clothes and get ready in as little time as humanly possible.
Today however I sat at my new dressing table and took my time to straighten and style my hair, apply my makeup and chose some jewellery to accessorise my swing dress all whilst listening to the radio in a relaxed fashion.
I then casually drifted around my clean, tidy house pondering what we might have for dinner, making lists of the jobs that needed to be done, calmly sipping at my Coke Zero with time to spare before heading out collect the Princess.
It was so lovely to have those few hours to recharge my batteries, catch up on the chores and to get the house together without the pitter patter or stomp stomp of my little Prince & Princess.
Sometimes us Mums just need a few hours by ourselves to be a little selfish, to give ourselves a pamper and to slob about without mini humans constantly demanding our attention. Right?

This is the first year, that I can remember, that I was looking forward to getting back into a routine after Xmas and new year ( although , as I am disabled, my life, isn’t exactly exciting!) , Just simple things, like having normal programmes back on The.V. and getting back to blogging, of course!
Lucky you! T is back in the routine of things, sadly I’m struggling a bit. I think it also has a lot to do with sleepless nights. Yep, been struggling again. Hopefully I’ll like you, I’ll be up and about again 🙂
You will with time x
I don’t think it’s just Mums, I think everyone needs a little bit of me time. Time to potter, do your hair, read something, whatever you want to do. I start to feel a bit stressed if I don’t have enough me time. It’s very necessary for your sanity.

It is you’re right.
oh that sounds heavenly. I rarely take time to myself, a few hours on my own means I’ll be getting on with the ironing or washing or even mucking about on the computer. Next time it happens I’m going to use it as pampering time x
Enjoy your time x
Glad you had a few hours to recharge your batteries. I don’t think it’s selfish in the slightest and everyone needs some ME time. My kids are both at school and although we had a lovely Christmas I think both me and the house breathed a sigh of relief when they went back! #TuesdayTreasure
Snap but it’s a hellish busy week here
Yep lol us too
I’m all about routine, I cant cope without routine! 🙂 And yes, we most definitely deserve a bit of ME time now and then! Working from home, with a toddler at my feet and a family and house to take care of, there’s not much me time here, but when I do get the chance, I make the most of it! Enjoy! 🙂 #tuesdaytreasures
Try to make time xxx
I was a bit embarrassed by how happy I was when winter break ended. I keep thinking that I need to treat myself to a nice nap but never seem to be able to let go of all the other stuff I should be doing
Love the shower quote! I don’t have kids but a long hot shower is still my favorite part of the day, especially on busy ones. I’m sure it will be even better once I have kids!
It will I bet x
How lovely! I live for the few moments I get to be just me, in the house, by myself. I mever knew that doing the housework whilst everyone else is out would feel so relaxing and fun!haha! Xx #TuesdayTreasures
It can be x
How lovely it would be to have a few hours to myself! I feel I’m always either parenting or working… and feel guilty about spending time on myself. I guess I’ll have to work on that! Sounds like you had a great start of the week. #TuesdayTreasures
It was good x
#tuesdaytreasures these days are always best when you haven’t planned me time – it just happens. Chilled and me time also makes me a better mummy
It so does x
Sounds lovely. I’m looking forward to all 3 being in nursery/school so I can actually get the house clean for once haha. #TuesdayTreasures
Oh bless it’ll happen in no time
Sounds absolutely heavenly Rachel, and exactly what you needed and deserved. I’d love to be able to float around my ‘clean and tidy house’, but I never seem to have one!! Sigh! Maybe one day! #TuesdayTreasures thanks for hosting x
That sounds like you’ve got everything well under control. I seem to go straight from do-nothing holiday mode into oh-God-so-much-to-do mode this time of year. Only just the decorations down and I’m already tearing about the place with the buggy like Christmas pudding never happened.
Once you get organised it’ll all be fine x
