Happy New Year
Happy New Year! 2017 has officially arrived so the celebrities can all relax. Lets hope that 2017 is filled with fun, friends, health and wealth for us all.
New Years Eve
Paul and I put the kids to bed at the usual time then settled down on the sofa to read through our Happiness Jar, a tradition which we carry out each and every year. We then shared a few drinks, had a rather lengthy game of Cards Against Humanity and watched the fireworks in London on the BBC.
I, as always threw Paul out of the back door at a couple of minutes to midnight and welcomed him (and the new year) into the house at the strike of midnight. I am pretty sure that according to some traditions he is meant to carry a lump of coal, a piece of bread and some other bits and pieces into the house but he usually tends to hands his full with his pint.
A New Year, A New Room & A New Bed
E spent her first night in her newly decorated bedroom where she slept in her new ‘big girl bed’, a mid-sleeper decorated with a tent, tunnel and tower set all in pink of course. It seemed to go pretty well, she slept most of the night with the exception of a trip to the toilet and a few requests for our company and reassurance.
We weren’t planning on having the kids bedrooms ready yet but somehow we managed to each sleep in a new room with a new bed before 2017, next on the list will be to decorate and furnish the study.
New Years Day
We celebrated New Years Day with a traditional Roast Dinner followed by my famous ‘Squidgy Chocolate Log‘ which I threw together last night whilst supping vast quantities of Bailey’s.
We somehow managed to fit seven of us including Paul’s parents, his Nana, the kids and ourselves around the dining table and had great fun pulling crackers, catching up and scoffing our faces like pigs. We then washed up, tidied around and finally relaxed in front of the TV to watch 101 Dalmatians.
This evening Paul and I polished, hoovered and took down the Christmas decorations, we were shocked at just how much space we now have in our living room since all of E’s toys have followed her into her new room. I cannot believe how much space our extension has given us as a family, it’s amazing.
I will shortly be having a bath, possibly a few more glasses of Bailey’s and catching up with the soaps before heading off to bed for some much-deserved rest.
It’s been a fabulous, family orientated New Year, I couldn’t have wished for any better
