It’s been a lonnnnnng week filled with appointments, commitments, chores and work not to mention keeping the kids entertained and fitting in a few hours of sleep here or there.
This next week is probably going to be fairly similar in that Paul and I will once again be cramming a crap load of jobs into a small space of time whilst attempting to maintain peace in the camp.
Life as a parent in the run up to Christmas is much like a clown riding a unicycle and then being thrown endless amounts of balls to juggle whilst keeping balance. It’s hard work and the moment you take your eye off the ball it all comes crashing down around your ankles.
After returning home from work on a Sunday there are a few things that Paul, the kids and I do each week to unwind and touch base.
Firstly we down tools and kick back on the couch to watch a family movie together. With it being less than a fortnight till Christmas this evenings choice of film Jingle All The Way was naturally another festive delight with a dash of crazy and a smidgen of Arnie for good measure.
Following or during watching our Sunday film we sit down on the carpet together and share what we like to call ‘a carpet picnic’ or as E calls it a ‘nic nic’. This consists of sandwiches, dips, fruit and savoury snacks followed by a pudding of the kids choice.
After our ‘nic nic’ Paul and I tidy around, hoover and mop the house and sort any last-minute arrangements for the following week.
The kids then select a board game from the cupboard and we sit around the table as a family to play a game or two before bath time.
This evening the kids chose to play ‘Labyrinth’, a firm family favourite which as usual Paul won.
As always the kids had great fun despite E randomly moving her piece between turns. J seemed far calmer at the concept of loss meanwhile I had to dig my glasses out and still didn’t get a single card!
It’s all fun and games on a Sunday and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thanks for reading and as always I look forward to catching up with your #MySundayPhoto pictures either through your own posts or comments upon this post.
