Once upon a time I would spend time each week collecting scenic shots specially for My Sunday Photo posts, these days I haven’t the time nor currently the energy to do so. Given that we’ve spent the bulk of our weekend lazing on the lawn, I decided it was more apt to post a paddling pool picture taken earlier today.
The temperatures are soaring at almost thirty degrees and being a redhead I don’t fare well in the heat, neither do our kids or the dogs for that matter. We are all utterly exhausted by the heat but despite feeling drained, we’ve tried our hardest to make the most of the sunshine.
We have been barely able to do anything than lounge by the lawn protected by parasols or to stay cool in the pool which my marvellous Mother very kindly collected from Argos yesterday to replace our previous pool which was mauled by our beastly basset.
This weekend has felt much like being abroad, my washing line is currently covered with beach towels, shorts, swim-suits and sarongs all of which are very rarely used here in the UK. To be honest we aren’t really prepared for extreme weather of any degree, should it snow the entire UK goes into sheer panic and now at the other end of the scale when we’ve hit a heat wave it seems that we are precisely the same.
My kids though seem to be loving every moment and are quite happy running around the garden in next to nothing, screaming at the top of their lungs whilst launching themselves in and out of a paddling pool for hours on end.
Apologies to the neighbours for the extreme noise but my kids have been having the time of their lives, it’s been like a holiday at home! I’m sure that give it a few weeks and we will back to wearing jeans and ranting about the rain, until then I plan to soak up the sun and to welcome the wonderful weather.
“Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Make you want to move your dancing feet
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know just if you can
Where I stand”
