How I’d love to tell you all what a wonderful a weekend we have had. Unfortunately that is far from the case nor the truth, as this weekend has been somewhat of a washout, both in terms of the weather and the events which have taken place.
However, we put the drama aside and took some time out with the children this afternoon. The deluge of rain had finally stopped and we were able to enjoy being outdoors in what felt like a fresh, autumn afternoon.
We took the children to the park where they ran their energy off whilst we enjoyed sitting on the swings and having a catch up as a couple. The sun shone brightly through the crisp, autumn leaves casting elongated shadows upon the grass. The leaves scuttled and stirred around our feet in the gentle breeze, as we swung back and forth, scuffing our toes against the springy play-park tarmac.
The hedgerows were thick with colour; bright yellows, greens, oranges, rusty reds and browns. Chunky, cotton-wool like clouds hung low in the perfect blue sky. So many shades, so many tones of colour, a feast for the eyes and a delight for the soul.
No more drama, no more stress. We needed that time today, we needed to get out and to run freely in the fresh, autumnal air.
“Golden brown texture like sun
Lays me down with my might she runs
Throughout the night
No need to fight
Never a frown with golden brown”
Golden Brown – The Stranglers
