Life is a funny old thing ain’t it? We are all equal yet view things entirely differently. Whilst some people would suggest a glass to be half full others may claim it to be half empty… It depends on your outlook as to how you view the World.
Over the years I’ve learnt to see things a little differently, I no longer look straight before me as I realise now that I failed to notice the smaller things; the details in the distance, the shiny stuff in the background and the surprises in my periphery. These days I try to look at things from a new perspective, absorbing all angles whilst appreciating the bigger picture.
Take this picture for example which I shot whilst out on my travels to collect furniture from a rather frosty Maryport earlier this week. Theres miles and miles of beauty which stretches into a snap shot none of which would I have noticed without having taken a moment to look around me, giving myself a chance to appreciate the simple beauty which I am surrounded by.
Whether you notice the tree, the fencing, the snow-capped mountains or the stream which meanders through the fields into the distance…each and every time you return to the picture you are bound to see more. Much like life itself, each and every time we take another look we are sure to see things a little differently, to gain further insight and perhaps a new perspective upon matters.
I’m hoping to look a little further, dig a little deeper and to perhaps alter my perspective throughout 2018. After all, not everything is black and white, the World is full of colour, detail and design, all of which I have learnt to appreciate that bit more throughout time.
“If you place a thing into the centre of your life
That lacks the power to nourish
It will eventually poison everything that you are
And destroy you
A simple a thing as an idea
Or your perspective on yourself of the world
No one can be the source of your contempt,
It lies within, in the centre.”
