So without further ado, here are My Five Favourite Monthly Moments (#MFFMM) from September 2024.
A Fresh Start & A New Routine
September saw E transfer from primary to secondary school, and J made a start in Year 11, his final year which will include GCSE exams and his sweet sixteenth. Time has certainly flown and it was rather strange to see both the kids wearing the same uniform and leaving for the bus together. Not only have the kids had a change of routine, but I too have been finding my feet with my new ‘work from home’ role and so far it seems to be working out pretty well in terms of timings and our new routine.
Super Seventy
September saw us continue celebrating my amazing Mother-in-law’s seventieth birthday as we got together for a family take-away and evening around the table. It’s always nice when we get together and it was even more special as we lit the candles on not one but two almost identical cakes to celebrate my Mother-in-laws ‘super seventieth’.
Cinema Dates
Now that E has left primary school, the friends she once spent every day with have each gone their separate ways. Whilst most of the kids went to the local ‘comp’, E opted to travel a little further afar and her other good friend M moved even further afield so we’ve done our best to keep the friendships going by having play dates, sleepovers, and trips out during the weekend. Whilst E is still very keen to remain close to her good friend M, she has also made some fantastic new friendships in her secondary school. I couldn’t be happier for her as I was a little worried that she’d find the change isolating in terms of social circles but thankfully, this hasn’t been the case.
Mad For It In Manchester
We enjoyed a Saturday out shopping in Manchester this week. I was obviously feeling flush as I spoilt myself rotten with a large bottle of Paco Raban’s Olympea, a wonderful witchy handbag, another cauldron mug, a pair of funky earrings, and a pair of Ugg platform ankle boots which I’m utterly in love with. The kids were also spoilt with new shoes (including some rather trendy Transformer-themed Converse boots and new jewellery) and all in all, we had a fantastic family splurge.
Orientating the Office
Since starting my new ‘work from home’ role I’ve found myself a little lacking in storage space and desk room thus decided to order an extra unit to add to the end of the desk and whilst it took a while to arrange, it looks awesome and has resolved my storage struggles.
Thanks for reading My Five Favourite Monthly Moments; I look forward to reading and catching up on your #MFFMM posts and comments.

As a parent, I find that it’s the little things, like family outings and cozy evenings at home, that create the most cherished memories. I can totally relate to the joy of watching our children grow and discover new things. Thank you for sharing your experiences; they inspire me to appreciate every moment!
