So without further waffle, here are My Five Favourite Monthly Moments (#MFFMM) from October 2024:
When Dreams Come True
As a child, I’d always dreamed of seeing the Aurora Borealis AKA the Northern Lights. I was well aware that it would most likely require a trip to the likes of Iceland in order to view such a spectacle but back in May the UK was blessed with the most beautiful display and I got to see the Northern Lights in all their glory from the comfort of my back garden. Never in a million years did I expect for this rare occurrence to happen again yet in October J and I watched on as the skies turned a gorgeous green and radiant red. I was once again able to snap some shots of the sky and though they are a little blurry, it was worth every moment of shivering and shaking in the cold night air.
Our Brilliant Buccaneer
Earlier this month our son J took part in what was his final fell race in senior school. As he was in Year Eleven he got to wear fancy dress and not only did he look the part as a brilliant Buccaneer, but he also won the fancy dress competition. To say that I am a proud parent is quite frankly an understatement – I was delighted!
The Doors Are Done
Paul’s been working hard to replace each and every one of our upstairs doors and this month we finally hung the final oak door in place and what a difference it makes.
Marvellous Muncaster
With it being the half-term holidays, we booked a family day out to Muncaster Castle. Legend has it that it’s one of the most haunted castles in the country thus it seemed an apt place to visit with it being Halloween. We had an amazing day and enjoyed an array of activities including cabaret shows, bird shows, axe throwing, shooting, dancing at a silent disco, scary mazes, and a tour around the castle itself.
Happy Halloween
E currently has her friends for an overnight Halloween-fest and they are currently out trick-or-treating dressed in Tim Burton-themed costumes. J opted to walk with them whilst dressed in his scary shot soldier suit. The weather has thankfully stayed on our side and it seems they are all having lots of fun and being spoilt with plenty of sweets.

I’m so jealous of the Northern Lights. I’m sooo desperate to see them. I even missed them in Auckland…argh! Great month for you. But Halloween always makes for a good one! Mine is https://pandoraandmax.blogspot.com/2024/10/my-five-favourite-monthly-moments.html
