So without further ado, here are My Five Favourite Monthly Moments (#MFFMM) from November 2024
A Sparkling Sensation
We enjoyed not just one but two fireworks displays this year, both of which were graced with good weather and we were able to stand and watch in comfort whilst wrapped up warm.
A Proud Parent
J has spent the past month studying and then sitting his mock GCSE examinations. Whilst they might not be the real deal, they give him some guidelines for the actual exams come the summer term and I have to say, J worked really hard and I’m an extremely proud parent.
E, meanwhile, has been incredibly brave this month and shocked us all as she sat through having two teeth removed in preparation for her upcoming braces. We had expected for E to require a general anaesthetic to have her teeth extracted but she braved it out and now she’s ready to rock and roll come January when she gets fitted with braces.
Future Ideas
Now J is in year eleven he’s been considering his future in terms of education and this month we visited a couple of colleges to take a look around during their open evenings. Though he’s not entirely sure what he wants to do or be in terms of a career, he’s narrowed down his A-level options to Psychology, Law/ Politics, Sociology, and possibly History or Geography. He’s yet to make a final choice in terms of the actual college that he wishes to attend and we’ve got it down to two, both of which are a bit of a journey and given that our government cut the funding for 16+ transport quite some time ago, that’s going to be another interesting and possibly slightly tricky time to navigate.
Rave Bingo
It’s not often that Paul and I get to go ‘out out’ and even when we do there’s very little do as most of the nightlife in our local area has closed long ago. This month however, Paul took me to a ‘Rave Bingo‘ evening at the local theatre and I’ve got to say it was so much fun! It’s been years since I’ve had a good dance, though trying to hold down and sort through six lines of bingo numbers after necking six or seven Vodka and Cokes wasn’t an easy feat.
Christmas Cracking
I’m well aware that Christmas is just around the corner and given that I’m the organised type, I’ve spent the majority of this month purchasing and packaging up parcels ready for family and friends. I’ve only got a couple of bits and pieces left to sort now. I’ve not been the most festive of folk over the past few years due to some seriously shoddy situations that life has thrown my way but I’ve decided to go all out this year and to get with the Christmas spirit. Here’s hoping things feel a little easier this year…

We’re mad for music Bingo – (Bingo Loco or Bongo’s Bingo, or even just a few pubs around us do it…ha!) People find it so strange…but when you know, you now! Ha!
It’s very exciting, the end of the school years, building to the next big step! Enjoy it all!
