Welcome to my new-ish linky – My Five Favourite Monthly Moments aka #MFFMM. This series will go live on the last day of each month and will celebrate five favourite moments from the month gone by. So without further ado, here are My Five Favourite Monthly Moments (#MFFMM) from May 2024:
Fabulous Fifteen
Our gorgeous, groovy young guy turned fabulously fifteen this month. As always, he was spoilt rotten with cake, cards and gifts galore including a rather snazzy scooter which he has since been ‘swegging’ in style upon around the cul-de-sac.
Blackpool Baby
We celebrated J’s birthday in Blackpool, spending the afternoon swimming at the Sandcastle followed by a slap-up meal at ‘Mr Basrai’s World Cuisine’ and a long stroll up the shore to try and walk off some of the calories that we had consumed.
An End To The Exams
Both J & E have spent the past couple of months studying for their exams; E had her SATs followed by a Cyclewise Course and J had his RE GCSE to contend with. Having finally finished with their various assessments the kids have since been able to let their hair down, relax, and enjoy the sunshine without so much stress.
Perfectly Purple
Paul and I have been meaning to upgrade, refurnish, and redecorate J’s room for a couple of years now. This half-term we finally bit the bullet and put our all into completely transforming his boudoir from what was a typical blue, carpeted, boys’ room into a swish, royal purple, celtic-themed teenagers paradise with a wipe-clean wooden floor and matching accessories.
It’s been quite the turnaround as we only bought the paint and laminate flooring last weekend and less than seven days later have completed the room. As you can imagine both Paul and I are now exhausted but I’m really pleased to see J so happy and to be able to steam mop his room rather than having to vacuum.
A Fresh Start
May has certainly been the month for change as I’ve recently acquired a brand new job, working from home, and though I’ll miss teaching and my previous colleagues, I really needed a fresh start and cannot wait to get started in late July!

Thanks – I’m really hoping this is the time for a fresh start and for everything to start feeling a bit brighter.
