Despite the endless rain that continued to pour for three days solid, we very much enjoyed our surprise trip away to Windermere where we celebrated my amazing Mother-in-laws upcoming seventieth birthday with a surprise shindig. I was half expecting that someone would give the game away somewhere along the line but we managed to make it almost six months without even the raise of an eyebrow and, as intended, the event was a big surprise.
The endless rain wasn’t so much of a surprise given that we live in the Lakes and are well aware of the weather patterns. However, it was a little concerning after almost two days of constant downpours as flooding caused the roads to close. Still, we enjoyed a lovely few days spent with family making memories and that’s all that matters.

Well done on the surprise – 6 months is a long time for everyone to not let the cat out of the bag! Pity about the weather but at least the road closures didn’t stop it happening!
Sorry to hear about the awful weather, but well done on keeping the celebration a surprise for nearly six months!
